Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) trans oil dipstick

I'm new to TDR and have been reading lots of posts to better educate and familiarize myself with my "new" cummins.

I've read the posts concerning the dipsticks for the 98-99's being too long; I've noticed that on my '01 the trans dipstick does not stay full seated. Could this be the same problem, too long hitting the bottom of the pan?

I have the same problem, I have a 99. It seems to vibrate loose, and doesn't seat like I think it should.

All of my Dodges have done this, even the 318 and 360 gas.

Mine used to do it, then I cut 1/2" off the end. Problem solved.

Thanks for the reply. After reading the posts on this matter I thought the problems might be confined to the 98-99's and not the later yrs. Guess I'll cut a 1/2" off so it will seat all the way to ward off possible contaminants entering and hope that resolves the problem.
