Ordered gauges @ Geno's today. Westach - EGT/Boost, Temp (for trans) & Fuel. Andy in their Tech Dept suggested I could use a B&M Drain Plug kit as the source to imerse the trans temp sensor in the fluid. I told him I didn't like the idea of the sensor lead dangling out the bottom of the trans pan. He suggested I could drill the side of the pan and also either braze or JB Weld the fitting to the inside of the pan. Anyone ever do this? Where's the best drilling location? I plan to braze Vs. JB Weld. I have this thing about gule and visions of burned out transmission due to fluid loss on the road side? Comments?

I brazed both a drain and a temp probe fitting. For the drain I used a B&M fitting and brazed it in the side of the "dip" in the pan. I also did not like a fitting on the bottom. The temp probe went in the side rear of the pan. I later put on a Mag Hi-tec pan. In retrospect just the B&M fitting on the side at the bottom of the dip would work fine for both functions.

Take the pan off and you'll see where you have the room on the side of the dip near the bottom and just put the probe there. To drain fluid, just pull the probe out.

The honest truth is that the B&M plug with the nut and nylon washer is probably good enough. I ran one just snuged up tight with some lock tight on the threads to prevent the nut from coomming loose on a car for 8 years and never had a leak.

I run a B+M drain plug in this truck as well as the last three with no problems. These were all mounted on the side not the bottom.

I used to pull the sender to drain but after a bad exp I just added a second drain on the bottom. Those senders are brass and will twist off in time while trying to take them out if they were over-tightend at all.

Get the replacement line.......

It gives the most accurate temp reading. Just replace the forward transmission coolant line with the one that has a sender port built in. They cost around $90. A bargain to help save your trans.

Personally I like to run one in the t/c out line mopar part # 5011244aa and one in the pan with a switch to change which one you are reading. This shows you max temp, intake temp, and how well your coolers are working. If you use the B&M kit make sure you braze it in or it will weep.
