My getrag is poping out of 5th gear after having it rebuilt by a professional shop. I haven't had time to take it by there yet, just wondering what they might have done wrong? Any ideas? Its only in 5th and when I'm getting on it pretty hard. Let me know.

Anybody wanna take a shot at this? I think it might be a syncro or blocker ring, not sure though, just trying to be informed when I go over there so they want try to snow me with BS.

Everytime I've had a similiar problem it's been the sycro so I would say the sycro is not doing it's job... ...

Latest truck I bought was jumping out of 5th whenever you let off throttle. This was 3rd trans for Original owner of truck. Maybe 80K on this one. Did test as mentioned in archives to eliminate shift cover probs. I cut hole in floor to pull top cover. Discovered about 1/8' or so gap between 5th gear an rear bearing. That caused it to slip out of gear. Rear bearing was tight on shaft. Pocket bearing an inside of pilot shaft had some wear. Replaced all bearings an shimed tight. No more jumping out of gear.

I'd guess a detent spring(s) is worn, and not holding the blocker ring in place like it should. Or something in your top isnt sliding the shift fork far enough when you go into 5th. My 91 popped out of first letting off the pedal, and my 92 pops out of second at will.

The synchro itself will only help in the shifting/ lack of grinding, not holding in gear.
