Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Trans Problem

I have recently noticed the trans has started to shift differently. The change comes from 2nd to third, it'll shift fine going from 1st to 2nd, but when going from 2nd to 3rd it makes a rpm jump (that being relative to how hard I am on the accelerator). At this time, this is the only problem with the trans. The trans has 117k on it and is due for a oil/filter change. Is this a serious problem or something simple? As I don't know where to take it for "RELIABLE" trans service, this is worrying me. My sincerest thanks to all that respond, your the greatest. "RATTLE ON".

It sounds like the front band is loose. tighten it 1/2 turn and try it or go ahead , drop the pan and do filter/fluid and adjust both bands.
