trans recall

I just had the trans recall completed for my 16 2500. After reading the report it seems to me they simply lowered the time threshold that you can hold your foot on the brake before shifting into gear. Was that the fix? Thanks.

Not really a transmission recall. It's for the shift interlock and the fix depends on what year it is as well as whether or not there are any damaged parts. Most I believe are simply a flash without parts.

Do you recall the recall code numbers? I just have had a 79 & u29 done . 79 was a flash & 29 was a selonoide replacement that required trans pan removal . I’m relieved as SO far all is well. Mine is a 16, 3500 w/ rfe68. I can’t help but wonder if both these are directly related. The 79 part of the recall was said to be mechanically alright. U29 was said to be a costumer satisfaction recall what ever that means

A customer satisfaction recall is meant to save you from headaches down the road. In this case (if I recall correctly), FCA got a batch of bad solenoid modules from their supplier. They have a problem that will cause a large percentage of them to eventually fail, leaving you in limp-in mode and requiring a replacement. So FCA decided to simply recall all the trucks that were built with these bad solenoids, and replace them BEFORE they fail on you.

Of course, being around Halloween, this could also literally be a costumer satisfaction recall as well!

I just gotta love the spin they put on defective parts. Reminds me of marketing; )

Well, they could simply replace the ones that actually fail within the warranty period (which would not be 100%), and then leave customers holding the bag for the ones that fail after the warranty expires. So I think pro-actively replacing all of the suspect parts is more like "doing the right thing" than "putting a spin on defective parts."
