Hi, i need to pull the auto trans from my sons 92 club cab 2wd. (front seal leaking). I have pulled auto trans before, but never one from behind a diesel. I was just wondering if there is anything special to look for or that is different from a gasser? Thanks,Randy.

There are 6 bolts, and you access them through a hole on the passenger side of the motor. If I remember right there's a plate or something you have to remove to gain access. There is not enough room to remove them from the bottom like a gas truck, the bolts are too long. I found out the hard way.

And when you reinstall, Run those bolts up just till they seat and then back off 1/2 turn. So that you can still allign the others but so that the heads dont hit as you rotate the flex plate around.

Don't forget to loosen the downpipe from the turbo housing(remove clamp). . definitely change the rear main seal while you have the transmission out, easy job. . might be a good time to update the flexplate to a 1994 which is slightly thicker and less prone to breaking as most of the first gen plates do eventually crack...

Thanks for the info guys, i figured there was probably something different because of the diesel. You probably saved me a few bad words. Randy :)

Well, we got the transmission pulled and replaced today. A pain in the ***, but it had to be done. It also gave my son some more experience(always a good thing). Thanks again for the tips, it saved me some trouble and i would not have even said any bad words if i had not kept hitting my knees on his running boards. Randy ;) ;)
