Competition transfer case

I am installing a mitchell steel flywheel dual disc clutch for sled pulling this summer. Since my truck is currently an auto i need to change the input for the t-case while i'm at it. I got a quote of $450 to exchange my 241dld t-case for a 241dhd transfer case already set up for a manual transmission! This is a great deal from what i have seen, i just wanted to know if this is necessary for sled pulling? I pulled a few times last year with the 241dld and had no problems but i wasn't running near the power levels i am now. I plan on putting at least 40 hooks on the truck this summer if all goes well. Matt--it's a pretty sweet deal, so I'd do it--the DHD can handle more torque--I did it 3 yrs ago, except I'm still running a stock size, but cryo'd output shaft--that will probably change soon though---chris

The heavy duty tcase is a must if you are going to put the power to it. just ask several pullers from this season. LOL i think i still have brandon's tcase output shaft in my tool box. broke clean as a whistle right where the snap ring groove is. Yo chris, what have you been up to man?? long time no see. .

finally got a bid back on the house, so im at the bank right now just waiting for them to give the green light. been playing lumberjack and clearing trees so i can build up the house pad. Hoping to break ground in May. Nothing too new on the truck, ordered a set of mach 4's, but the twins and air ride are shelved untill the house gets built.

Matt, with that clutch and enough power you will most likely bust the LD t-case. With the power levels that I been running over the last few years, the HD has held up!
