Has anyone recently installed the TransGo SK TFOD-Diesel shift kit in a 47RH trans? I just purchased kit and have some technical questions. The big question is, how did it work out?

I installed one in my 47rh and like it. I did not remove the trans so did not install the seals. I have had the valve body in and out a half dozen times since then to adjust the line pressure and tv adjustment. I also tried a few different sonnax parts trying to get rid of a delayed 2/3 shift when cold but have since removed them. The shifts are much firmer but not too harsh. I still need to get a tighter torque converter as the rpm really drops when it locks up if I'm hard on the go peddle.

I did the trans go kit too.

After several VB removals and realizing the amount of fluid I went thru, I tell peole to just buy a built VB. I did mine and a friend has a DTT vb and his shifts are better.

I bought an aftermarket B&M pan for pretty cheap from summit which added about two quarts to the system but more importantly allows me to drain my fluid without removing the pan and I also have the reusable pan gasket. I also have a dedicated clean drain pan (one of those big suckers with spout/yellow so I can see into the fluid for debris and the bolts I drop) I only use for transmission fluid. This allows me to dump the fluid, drop the pan, make my adjustment, button things up and pour the fluid back in in a very short time. I always filter the used fluid back into the old containers which I kept for just this purpose. I made it easy because I knew I wouldn't want to do the needed adjustments otherwise. Plus the old days of wearing more fluid than I saved are over.

How long ago did you install kit? Do you remember critical details ie. hole sizes drilled in VB? Call me a dreamer but I'd like to try and get it right on the first install. Another member suggests just buying a complete HD VB rather than messing with OEM. How much does one of those babies cost? I've done some VB work on other rigs (not Dodge) in the past so have experience but... ... ... time is money. If you have the instructions from kit it would be nice to know what you did on the steps that had options, hole sizes, springs, screw turns, etc. . I installed a drain plug in OEM pan years ago but finally going to install the Mag HiTech pan I bought a couple of years back (a little behind on my projects). Dedicated yellow drain pan, great idea.
