I have a small amount of TC lockup hunting happening at around 35MPH in 3rd gear under light load. This happens with or without OD locked out. Any thoughts?

Also was thinking about getting the fast idle TSB at a Dealer in Everett, Wa. However have not seen anyone have it kick in yet?

Me too.

Snow,

I have the same thing. I had the trans reflash awhile back, but this is still a problem. I have to get it back in there, as much as I hate to do it. I'll let you know if I get it in there.

The fast idle thing seems to have bugs in it, or is not working like it should, according to the guys on the other thread. I don't think I'll get that one. I don't idle excessively, so it doesn't seem like it would be of any benefit to me. I'm also not sure the whole concept of 1/2 the engine not firing sounds too great to me.

Snow,

Mine was doing the same thing. They replaced the TPS and it helped for a while. There is a TSB on it, although I don't know the number right now. Check Dave Fritz's site. I'll be taking mine for the reflash as soon as I get the time.

My transmission used to do that. Seemed to be worse when the transmission was warmed up, after a hard pull, etc. (wasn't cold related). Then it died completely (went into "limp" mode). After some chasing (thanks again to Bill K. for his help), I had a defective lock-up/overdrive solenoid. Since replacing, it has "snapped" right in, every time. Hopefully you will find another solution, as this required getting into the transmission.

I do notice this hunting the most while towing, that is when I have been on the road towing, and go through a small town just loofing along at a slow speed and it will hunt between lockup and not locked up in 3rd gear. SNOKING

Mine does the same thing at 25 MPH, if I drive closer to 30 MPH then it locks up and stays there, if I drive closer to 20 MPH then it stays in third and no lock up, I just drive according to the posted speeds.

mine seems to do the same thing in the 35 mph range also , i just figured it weas normal , like everything else according to dodge service ...

guess i'll have to ask bill about that ...

Mopar,

I know what you mean. I also wondered if it was normal, but I don't think it is. It hunts way too much. Also, mine doesn't kick down into a lower gear when pulling a hill as soon as I think it should. It really bogs unless I give it a good stab in the pedal - then it'll downshift. More and more, I'm thinking it may be the TPS.

I had the same problem. DC had to re-flash with tsb 18-02-99. Seems like a common problem for 1999's. Truck has 60k on it, so it was done at DC's expense. No questions asked, just provided the tsb number. Takes about 1 hour.
