Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) transmission ****ing from3 to4

mytranny is starting to shift from3 to4 and back when it shouldn't. I have wrapped the ground on the altenater and that stopped it for awhile. The dealer replaced the tps and altenater which helped for a while. what am I to do now?

Clean the battery posts, especially the grounds. If that doesn't fix it call DTT1866-504-4002 ans ask them. I bet they say to buy an electrical filter from them.

Are you sure it isn't locking and unlocking the converter clutch?

transmission erratic shifts locking & unlocking

Had the same problems and called DTT and bought a filter from them and that solved the problem. No more problems. I think it was about $50 including shipping. AHughes central oregon

cleaned the battery post and so far that seems to have done it.

I was having the same problem, it would shift in and out of 3rd to 4th in overdrive. It was driving me crazy, thought the TPS/APPS was going but read thread on cleaning grounds and such so I went over the truck and cleaned every ground connector including the cab to truck bed. I removed and cleaned battery terminal posts and made sure everything was clean and tight. All is well now, saved myself a few $$ in not buying a new APPS.
