Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transmission issues

Once again my transmission is on the fritz. It should be fixed under warranty, but I am serriously considering swaping it out for a manual or selling the truck and finding another 12 valve with a manual. How much and how hard is it to do the transmission swap?
