Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) TC not locking up

I've noticed lately if I'm driving normal around town that sometime the transmission will seem to make the truck surge or buck a little in 1st and 2nd, but if I step down on the throttle more it totally goes away. Also in 3rd gear it seems like the converter can't decide whether to stay locked or not driving normal but when I step down on the throttle that issue also disappears. Any ideas?

try adjusting the bands, mine did that at low speeds like that and adjusted the bands and took 90% of it away

The bands were just adjusted about a month ago when I serviced the transmission. This issue just started this week, I'm beginning to think it's some bucking from the Edge Comp.

Could be the converter locking and unlocking. If so , it's caused by electrical noise spikes. Try cleaning the battery terminals and the ground connection under the passenger side battery. Do a search on this problem, there are many posts and other fixes.

Does it do it with the Comp unhooked? If so may be the comp or dirty connections etc with the comp.

You may also want to look into a noise filter that DTT sells. It took care of my od hunting problems immediately. As our trucks get older the alternator makes more electrical noise and this effects the APPS negatively because of how all the wires are run. I dont fully understand it but the noise filter worked and it only cost 50bucks.

Hope this helps

Mine does it pretty bad if I have it in drive and I'm at idle letting the truck go foward. If I kick it down into 1st, it doesn't do it.

Dunno. It's done it since I bought it June of 05.
