ok, wait are you guys suggesting now that I dont change the sensors or solenoids? the only thing I dont have on its way to my house is the aftermarket solenoid I was going to purchase from suncoast. so whats the deal guys? It sounds like your changing your minds or something. :( Oh and another note; that alternator isnt the original, I put that alternator on the truck about 2yrs ago or so. And budnate are you saying that my truck isnt worth taking care of. Thats not correct, preventative maintanance is what keeps our trucks alive and well. Im sorry guys im just starting to get a little frustrated and confused by whats been posted on here recently. im trying to get the best possible solution for the problem ive been having and its hard to get there sometimes. keep the posts coming cause i need all the help i can get! :) Sincerely, MNeuharth

Oh and budnate those closeup pics are a BIG help much better than the Chilton repair manual I have. thanks!

Don't worry, we are rambling. :-laf

If you have the OD and lockup solenoids go ahead and replace them. I was jsut saying ig those items work it usually not something to be rplaced, but budnate is correct the truck is 13 years old so replacing them is not a waste of time.

We are not saying maintenance is waste of time, just discussing the ROI on certain things. I would have changed out the gov solenoid and transducer first but go with what you ahve and see how it works.

I dont ramble, I was being Sarcastic about being told it was a waste of money to do them, you can do what you like but if I was into my vehicle or a friends vehicle working on it I would change them with the information you presented.

Then recommend he take the trans out and replace ALL the parts with new if you think that is preventative maintenance.

Throwing parts at it until the problem goes away or the customer is convinced it really isn't a problem is a typical dealer parts changer trick. Why not change the parts that are pertinent, known to cause issues to find the problem first?

I have solenoids in these units that are 17-18 years old and still working. They won't get changed until they exhibit a problem and I would not tell anybody I did work for, friend or family, any different.

cerberusiam I dont know what the H""" is your problem is?, the guy asked for help on the road... we are just trying to help a little, pretty cruddy feeling to be on the road and have your rig act up,

if your God's Gift to all Dodge step up and answer every post on this forum so we all can sit back and watch you in action, at the very least it should help your Ego.

MNeuharth, Hope you made it home ok, sorry your post went screwy I am done.

I happen to think the OP needs all the info to make an informed decision and FIX his truck, whether you like it or not. Sorry your having such a bad day and feel the need to take it out on someone, but, I have my asbestos shorts handy so flame away. ;)

The OP can choose to change the shift solenoids, and\or the gov solenoid, and\or rebuild the trans if that solves his problem and makes him happy. Thats all I am concerned about.

ok guys lets bring it down a little. it was not my intension to start i ******* match. so lets get back to the issue at hand ok. now ive finally made it home last tuesday and have been sick with tonsilitus and i havent been under the truck yet, but on our way back home we stopped in Mt. Shasta over night at a friends house. When i exited the freeway the lockup clutch didnt dissengage and it stalled the motor upon stopping at the stop sign and then again entering the parking lot at the black bear diner. luckly we made it to my friends house after that. the next morning we took it to my buddies diesel shop to scan the transmission. and boy did it not shift right, it was shifting up and down like crazy. the scanner said the transmission was shifting too early, not down shifting properly, and the gov pressure was way low. Desired pressure is 127psi and we were only getting between 40-60psi. and it continued to do that untill the fluid warmed up. then we took it to the transmission shop and had the owner/operator of the shop ride with us and he came up with the same conclusion that everybody else was saying. we're all pretty sure the converter is shot and the rest of the transmission is as well. other than the torque converter and the billet input shaft the transmission is stock. and after 13yrs of hard work and alot of power i think it had enough. The transmission shop guy has built many high performance transmissions for my diesel buddies up there, and he said that my fluid was smelled burnt. I told him i had just put new fluid in it the day before cause on my way down to Mt. Shasta i blew my transmission line twice. he then said for me to go home and rebuild my transmission cause he believed it to be shot. and so I did and i am now looking for a place to have the work done. sorry for the long post but i wanted to update you guys with what has happend. mneuharth
