Not So!!!!

Stefan, I do take exceptions to your un wanted comments about Ken Jones. Like all other threads regarding transmissions you stick your nose in and turn the original question into " I'm the expert". You as a vendor should know better then to bash another. The original question from one of our members, gravedigger was " Looking for a good transmission shop around slc Utah to do a transmission upgrade on my truck. Looking to do either a DTT or ATS. Baker's Diesel out of Ogden has been recommended just wounder if this is a good shop or if their is any others to look into.

Thanks"
The two recommendations was Bakers and Jones. You just couldn't leave it alone... The facts you mentioned are misleading and not correct. Ken Jones does not farm out any transmission work. It is done all in house. The builder friend you were refereing to is Russ Carrigan, of Carrigan Motors in Morgan, Utah one of the the best diesel fuel mechanics in Northern Utah. . To say either of them don't have the personal expertise is B. S. I know Jason of Bakers personally, and by the way he is a nice guy too. There are nice guys out here that do know what they are doing and do care about customer satisfaction. They don't need to get on this site and bash you. They have more class. You do the same thing about "Clint" of ATS. You and your DAD need to be more proactive and not reactive because you have turned me and others away from being potential customers.

It has been my experience that the one who says nothing but negative comments has usually got something to hide. So I agree with you.

So much emphasis is put on personalities and that was never the issue. When we dealt with Ken that is how he did things. His guys were suppossed to come up for training and they just did not. It became a simple choice for us as our units are not OEM spec units we just couldn’t do it. Jayson on the other hand did come up and train and continues to come back to update his training. He does an awesome job and he also has a good relationship with Clay at the dealership. To be clear, I did not say these guys cannot build transmissions they have not been trained to build ours and it is very different that theirs. The dealership guys and Jayson all get along very well and have no hard feelings that Jayson is our builder, they know our stuff is different .

Farming out; where are your torque converters made in house. I don't think so from what I remember reading. We're all just a bunch of cash cows down here in the States anyway

What are you trying to say about CASH COWS in the States??? :--)

And farming out please elaborate... ... ...

Well it seems this thread has lost it's usefulness. I think your beating a dead horse. :-{} So move on or I will close the thread.

Thanks guys. ;)

Seriously call transmission city in sandy, i had them install my components, and they did a great job, and were very pleasent to deal with. Ivan did the install, but he is now the manager. very clean shop, like 10 or more bays, very clean and organized. 565-9990. i think its going to be cheaper though if you use the shops components, so if you want dtt then use bakers in ogden for example.
