Hey guys... I'm a new member and this is my first post to the TRD. Been thinking of how to get more power to the pavement. I have a stock 47re auto and would like some suggesions and or comments on potential upgrades... or should I even bother? My local diesel shop said I should just wait till this one needs to be replaced and go with a goerend rebuilt. What do you guys think?

you don't say how many miles you have on your truck, at 110k mine started to fade but I was moving from KS to TX so I waited until the move was over (several trips) as I knew I was going with Goerend and having it installed down here. The Goerend is awesome, wouldn't trade it for anything but unless you have the cash laying around I'd get the goody out of your 47 first, it won't take long if you turn up the Juice!

I don't see how a VB and converter could hurt it. Most shops though, have experience and need to know the miles/condition of a trans to give you the best advice.

Where are you?

I am a long time DTT fan. You need to decide if you want to wait till it breaks and be reactive (at whatever inconvenience) or be pro active and pick the time and place to do the up grade.

Thanks for all the input guys... all great advice. To answer a few questions from above, I have approx. 165k miles as of right now. Also I live in the Burleson TX area an have been dealing with MACS Performance. They installed my FASS pump and my new VP. They have been great to work with and really know their stuff. They are also an authorized Goerend dealer and recommended it to me.
