I have a 99 2500 diesel with automatic transmission and 145000 miles. I am having a problem with the transmission lossing fluid. It is comming out around the yoke and seal and coating the under body, bumper and tailgate on ocassion. It is not happening all the time. It seems to happen more when I have driven for longer periods of time. I was wondering where the vent is on this transmission as I can not locate it. I also have a picture breakdown of the cassings and there is no vent tube showing. The yoke had a grove worn in it so I had a sleeve put on it and a new seal. I find no slack in the yoke.

Not sure but I suspect the vent is inside the bell housing. YOu may just need to replace the bushing and seal in the rear of the transmission. Transmission shops have a tool to remove/replace the bushing without removing the tailshaft. Do you have lots of miles on the transmission? bg
