2003 manual HO with an Edge runs great but noticed a high idle sometimes , should i

expect a breakdown?

Pull the edge out of the equation and see if you still have the problem.

Also, please define "High Idle". Is this when you are sitting at a stop and the engine RPMs go slightly above the normal idle RPM, or is it going to redline?

What is the RPM when you think you are having an issue?

Sorry I was kind of tired, were in west Kentucky traveling south to Barbers Motorsports. The truck will run at 1200rpm at idle but not all the time. I think I'll read the Edge for any codes before we take off this morning. Are there any diesel friendly places around here?

Had a PO633 code seems to be nothing and I erased it,returning the program to stock now.

Must have been the programmer it is not doing it anymore!

got home, no problem will be contacting the Edge people to figure out what's going on, too bad I had to run a stock setting because it would have been nice in the hills.

long awaited update!

The Edge people tried to fix the program but it still does the high idle thing. Called them last week and the person said there is no way to fix the issue stating some trucks just do weird things:eek:

Several years ago my brother had similiar issue on an 03 3500. He was 1500 miles from home and had pulled into a rest area. While idling to cooldown the engine started reving to the govenor and back to idle several times. He shut it down and after trying a couple of things removed the EDGE and it returned to normal. He never pursued the issue and never had the problem again. He still has the same truck and it has been stock since that day.

That is the high end piece with gauges. If you want just the programmer the SO-6 is cheaper. The extra cost for the Touch just offsets the gauge costs. Top of the line tuner and support without a doubt.

Another update , many people have complained to Edge about the problem and so now they are trying to fix a software glitch as we speak, so in about two weeks they should it have sorted, using customers as test subjects

Lots of problems with Edge especially as they age. I'd cut my losses and buy a Smarty if you want a reliable tuner. Ive now had one for a total of 8 years spanning 2 trucks and have not had one single issue with it.

I'll keep it in mind , but the upgrade will be free and I think I'll give it a try. I believe the shop that installed it will back their work up allowing some compensation for another tuner if I follow through with the fix. I'm curious , will the electronics ,the solid state parts age?

I gave up on the Edge and the Edge tech support, I'm going to use it as gauges with it set on the stock setting and I have a S0-6 coming .
