Did it get hot?

Is it no overdrive or is it no lockup?

Most likely it's the solenoid cluster in the trans. They are notorious for failures. Also, check your voltage regulator, or whatever is being used to fool the ECM with the higher line pressures.

What he said... usually if the transmission is operating correctly and drops into drive it is caused by overheating... but there should have been a warning light??

Did you try shutting it down and restarting... this sometimes will "reset" things... my 99 46RE had a glitch like this before it was replaced... and cycling it would reset things... it was the govenor solenoid pack failing...

Been there

I hope everybody is right, but I had the same problem and it turned out that the tail end of the trans was fried. The trans company is claiming that is all due to checkvalve sticking.

transmission great ---

Solonoid in the transmission was out on one side - put another in - runs great again... .....

Thanks RIP and Robert at Source Automotive for fixing and also Tony Dunrite at Dunrite Trannymission for diagnosing the problem... .

Am having basically the same problem w/ my '01. Just picked it up from WA state a couple weeks back/ Has 190k on it w/ transmission rebuild by, I believe, DTT 30K ago. How did you diagnose the problem(ie) how did you check voltages and how much was the solenoid repair??/thanks/ warren
