I'm considering getting a Bully Dog Triple Dog for my '03 Ram 2500 6spd. The engine is stock with the exception of Bosch Motorsports 50hp injectors. I have a TST powermax with the R49 remote and it fuels way harder than my stock CP3 can keep up with. I'm considering the Bully Dog for a few reasons. The main ones are the gauge display and the ability to change features like the fog lights with high beams and door lock remote functions. I'm also thinking the the tow (50hp) setting might be a good and smooth daily driving tune. However, I don't know how it would respond to my larger injectors. I know the Smarty jr has a setting for stock or not injectors and the Triple Dog doesn't. I just don't know exactly how smoky it might or might not be. If anyone has any experience with this or a similar setup, I would love to hear about it.

I know the Smarty is the wildest and most versatile tuner out there, but it's the "extra" features that I'm looking at. I've got plenty of fuel and adjustability on tap with the TST, but you can't read the gauges when the sun hits them and you can only view two parameters at one time. I was looking at the bright box and a couple other things and it just looks like the triple dog does all that plus some tuning and gauges for just a few dollars more.

I got so sick of my TST throwing codes that when the display died I tore the whole bundle of spaghetti out and threw it away.
IMO they use way too small of connector pins in their connections and they're sensitive to vibration. The pins are certainly big enough to carry the tiny signals but add in some adverse environmental conditions and they have problems. The eng compartment looks a lot better without the harness snaking all over it to.

I had a few problems at first with cam codes, but once I cleaned up a couple grounds and moved the TST ground, it has been trouble free. I'm just looking for a better display, smoother daily program, fog lights on with high beams, and a few other things.

I dont use or sell bullydog so i am unfamiliar with its tuneability..... the smarty is easy to tune and clean the smoke up. I have 100s in my truck with the smarty and a phatshaft 64 and can get 15 -17 mpg towing the crawler running 75... . also check out autometers triple gauge setup with pillar included... not a bad price comparitively...
