Not to sure of who has heard of the sitution in Cali right now, but HERE is the link to a forum that has a lot on this subject.

Might want to check this out. They have basicly shut down all Sled Pulling in Cali, and LOTS more actions will be following shortly. :(

The worst part is that it's not just aimed at diesels, it's ALL motorsports. They are simply taking actions at diesels first because of the visable smoke.

When I say ALL, I mean ALL motorsports. That's the word at least. :(

Tx, I checked out the link you posted, but it doesn't have any specific information, as to what the govt. proposes, or any legislation enacted..... are you sure this isn't just some kind of rumor???

That is just the latest thread, there are others in that forum that state more about it. HERE is the thread that started several others over there. Some pulls have already been shut down because of it.

Here is a quote from Mr. Chris Sutton, a member of this forum also, that can be found on that site... .

well I have the letter and they are looking into what to do, but for the time being we are toast--unless you are smokeless

One sactioning body of pulling out there, the VTPA, is going to court over this already.

it's no rumor--the California ARB has sent letters to two pulling organizations telling them to tell their diesel members to stop turning up their engines and to not allow them to pull or they may seek legal action--now's there's bits and pcs of more info being stated but I have the letter that states the above---we will be having a mtg out here to see what legal prospects we have, but we will need these signatures from the petition to have a leg to stand on--we will keep you posted---chris

THIS IS A QUOAT FROM THE DIESEL SITE.

still crazyinlaw (Info) (Edit) (Quote) 5/28/2004, 8:16:00 PM

why is it that the ultra ultra liberal idiots in Europe can understand and fully embrace the advantages of diesel fuel, but the moron tree Huggins commie *******s in this state don't have a f$&*! clue. the promoters need to make a stand, and keep pulling. there is no law stopping them. if this continues to escalate, then unification is the only solution. meaning our republican representatives, congressmen, and senators. as well as every racing organization the competes in the state. if they are able to get there foot in the door against pulling in any form, then every other racing organization is at risk as well.

94 dodge 4x4

some upgrades

smokes a little

I agree with the above post. Next thing you know they will be stopping all fueled vehicles from entering the state. I guess the only way you will be able to compete in that dam commie tree huggen bunny loving want a b total green state will be to see who can build the most powerful battery powered truck.

I look at it this way if you don't like the trucks and the smoke and don't want to breath the stuff in than stay in your dam green house and don't bother us guys that are having fun. How many sled pullers and specters are known to have dropped dead at the wheel or at the grand stands because of this? None that I know of so whats all the :-{} :-{} :-{} about.

All I got to say is go the F@#k back home in you tree and air friendly battery powered bunny mobile and clean the glass on your green house.

CARB

Unfortunately, we have to keep an eye on these CARB folks - they succeeded in getting the EPA to adopt their rules for all 50 states (new EPA regs. coming up, I think). Maybe it's best to get the TDR members that are left in Cali. out, then let the thing drop off into the ocean... .

Mexican Long Haul Trucks

We'll see if these guys can stop the long haul truck from Mexico that the free trade agreement is trying to allow.

Slightly different take?

thats why i would never live in cali surrounded by all of those f^%$ing exteme liberals. the problem is you have a normal life these guys live to pick a fight and get there face on the camera for some f&^%ing someone else over.

in cali extreme liberals rule. that really sucks.

Sorry to rain on your parade...

I don't know about sled-pulling in a closed arena, if you (and your children) want to breath that stuff in, fine with me, knock yourself out.

But why ticks me off, is why do I have to sit behind some over-fueled and chipped diesel belching black smoke in traffic and have that sheeit pour into my cab and have my 12 month old daughter

breath that. Why should I have to close my outside vents or try and change lanes to avoid that.

Guys that think that black smoke coming from a stack is cool better think again because you are setting the cause for more powerful and clean diesels back 20 years. You are just giving the "tree huggers" more ammunition.

In agreement with RonWeiss

CARB is the 2nd most powerful body in the country, THAT NOBODY VOTED FOR! They are 2nd only to the EPA, and the EPA follows what CARB does with a very close eye. The thing that really frosts me is that both these agencies have the power to make regulations, without benefit of legislative procedures and citizen input, and when the regulation becomes a written policy it then has the power of LAW, with attendant fines, arrests, etc. ALL WITHOUT THE STANDARD LEGISLATIVE PROCESS that our "normal" laws had to survive, from introduction as a "bill", then discussion, argument, committees, etc. This process tries to insure that harmful ideas do not become Law. There is no such procedure with CARB or EPA regulations. And THAT is the problem we should all be trying to eradicate.

I stated above that I agree with RonWeiss. Anyone that reads my sig can see that I have a CTD, and that it is not 'stock'. There seem to be very few 'bone stock' rigs on TDR.

And I wouldn't want to ruin anybody's fun with their truck. After all, we're all just a bunch of grown-up hot rodders.

But RonWeiss is right, and I know this post and his might not go a long way to make either of us popular with the others in this group. It is one thing to pay to attend a competitive event or go to a group BOMBING session, where you know beforehand that there will be smoke and burnt rubber and ear splitting noise levels.

It is quite another thing entirely to intentionally smoke out the car next to you or behind you in traffic with your supposedly street legal CTD. How would you feel if YOUR kid had asthma? Or your mom had emphysema? And some immature redneck truck driver thought it was just hilarious to put them in respiratory distress?? Or, in Ron's case, he has an infant in the vehicle?

Now go one step further. The person in the vehicle you smoked out is a member of CARB, or his/her daddy works for EPA! You have just made a lifetime enemy out of someone that has the power and inclination to make your life miserable!

I make no suggestions or recommendations to anyone regarding how to conduct themselves on public roads. This IS America, and I'm not above being politically incorrect on a regular basis.

This post is meant to be food for thought, in that a few inconsiderate souls may be causing the powers that be to scrutinize the rest of us, to the detriment of all.

IMHO

RonWeiss:

That took some courage to say that in this audience. Thanks. That's why my CAT is staying on my 04. 5. I prefer the clean air of the modern vehicles to what we had 30 years ago. My comments are specific to street legal vehicles. For special purpose vehicles like racing, tractor pulls, etc. , don't care. I am not a tree hugger either.

Yep, those soccer moms in their minivans vote, and they know the phone number of the air resources board. They won't stand being smoked out too many times!

That's why I try to be very conscious of and careful with any off-boost smoke on the street.

Brings back memories of that glorious 5 star thread about spewing smoke for fun. Reap what you sew, thanks guys, we've earned this black eye.

how is it any different? it all ends up in the same air...

the TMS is right off the highway... a bunch of 700hp carbureted gassers w/ no cats running around in a circle, but you're not allowed to run one on the highway right next to it??

well, unless it's an old car of course... then it doesn't matter.
