Wouldn't you know it. I go in for service on the rear end again and now on my way from Phoenix to Vegas after getting fuel in Needles, CA truck seems to have a severe lack of power and seems to be missing intermittenly. Tach boucing seems to coincide with stumbles. Not severe, but there just the same. I stopped and drained some fuel from the filter, but no water present, not much in the way of crud.

Could very well be a bad tank of fuel? I am changing out the fuel filter today, and I have a really clean air filter.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what to check next???

I am in Las Vegas currently.

Please email me if you can.

BTW this is the truck that had the the rear end, 4:10 LSD replaced 6000 miles ago, now Dodge is going to have to replace the entire third member. Seems the 5 star dealer in FL that replaced (complete rebuild, $3400. 00) the differential tried to grind down the faces of the bearing race seats and forgot to set any pre-load. Oppps.....

Oh well, the truck goes back on Monday to Earnhardts in Phoenix and I feel pretty competent that the tech and the service manager are going to do it right this time.

Thanks everyone,

I think you got some bad fuel, change the filter out and try again. you already knew that but its nice to hear 2 people come up with the same fix... ... ... ..... Kevin

Thanks, since it's only 7:30 am here now, I'll start my search for a Dodge or Cummins dealer closeby.

May as well stop over to see the guys at DD since they are only 6 miles from me.

DCMille290. Hard to tell much about your rig--nothing in signature, but if its 2nd gen--I'd check the fuel pump pressure--also... . 2 cents worth... ... ... . R, J. B. :p

Sorry about the lack if sig line. When the truck was under warranty I took it off, guess it's time to put it back.

Yes, it's 98. 5, EXT. , 24V w/ 4:10 LSD. Tow Package and Trailer setup w/36' 5'er. Edge Module. DTT Torque Controller, VB and TC.

Good idea to check fuel pressure. I changed the fuel filter took it out on I-15 and kicked it in the a** just to get rid of any carbon :)

Seems OK, I'll know better on Monday with the trailer on it going back to Phoenix.

Thanks guys,

DC... Where did you get the last tank of diesel? Could be it was contaminated or had water in it. If you problems started shortly after fueling, I'd suspect bad fuel. If it isn't the fuel, it could be your lift pump, or a dirty fuel filter... Good luck... ;)
