Liquid Propane Spurting Out of Regulator

Hey all!,

I've managed to be convinced that a fiver makes more sense to the family than a camper. Now begins the PHun of doing the homework... .

Given my truck (see sig) do ya think that one of the 26 foot fifth wheel toyhaulers would be a good or a bad match? I see they spec at 12,000 GVW (max) with pin weight of 1,380lbs (whatever that represents) and the two models (Tahoe and Wanderer) I'm looking at are dry weight around 7380lbs. A quick look at the owners manual shows a max trailer of 9450lbs with a GCWR of 16,000lbs so that looks like it's legal at least.....

What kind of electric brake did you RV'rs have installed to stop the mighty beast and it load? Recommendations on what to look out for?

Am I in for a buffeting ride from heck and need to rethink or am I ready to start looking at fiver hitches next?

5er

You wont have any problem towing the trailers you describe. If you buy as displayed you may have tire and stopping problems. See the thread about trailer tire problems on theis forum. If I were buying a new trailer I would get the heaviest axle/brakes that were available for that trailer. (NOT 5000# axles and 15" tires). The truck will actually ride much better with the 5er in tow. bg

hmm, that's another question. Is there any reason you can't put BFG A/T's on a trailer? I hear these Alaska highway travelers have great luck with BFG A/T's and bad luck with trailer tires. Any reason one can't go all the way around?
