Truck dead for 4 days, FASS & Electric ?'s

Well I think my lift pump is dead, so I decide to hook up my FASS I had sitting around. Got it hooked up (pain in butt) and now every time I turn key on it blows fuse on the FASS harness. (15 amp fuse)



Ive been talking to Dan at FASS, so far hes been helpful, but this happened after their business hours. Ill call him again tomorrow Im sure. My truck is an 04. 5 and as far as I can tell it came factory with the in tank lift pump. No retrofitting obvious, no block off plate on filter canister.



He also made mention that I may need a relay setup?? I have no idea how to hook up a relay. I know I need 12v in, 12v out, switch & ground but where to locate all this is beyond me. Do you guys run relays or just tap into fuse box and ground it and good to go?

If you just cut the fuel lines and put the fass pump in line and didnt remove the stock fuel pump on the filter canster you are trying to pump fuel through the stock fuel pump it will over load the fass and blow fuses

As lightman said your 04. 5 has filter mounted pump which needs to be bypassed.

I didnt cut the line, ran new on from FASS to CP3. I think my FASS motor is bad, Im in the process with FASS to get a new pump under warranty.

Found this doing a quick Google search. In this example the switched 12V power is blue. Your battery provides the actual power to the FASS. Remember to fuse the lead from the battery. Relay's allow small current capable switches to control large current devices with no drop in voltage or current.

Thought the in tank lift pump started in 05.

It did, I was incorrect in my thinking. My lift pump is on the fuel filter canister. Just waiting on my warranty pump from FASS now!
