Took off for an errand the other day and the truck just died while I was driving down the road and would not restart.

I have the Glacier GDP 392 and the fuel pressure gauge showed 18-19lbs. I got a 1693 code in the odometer, but that is it.

I suspect either the EDGE EZ or more likely the VP44. I saw the info on Blue Chips site about testing the VP44 (Blue Chip Diesel Performance Specialists) so when the rain stops this week I will first try to disconnect the EDGE and make sure it is not that and then start the VP44 testing.

Any other ideas on what the issue is or suggestions on replacement of VP44 (where to buy, how-to procedure, etc. ) is welcome.

Thanks.

My sons 98. 5 just did the same thing. The tank was less than a 1/4 full so we added 16 gallons of home brew and changed the filters on the Fass and it ran fine. The guys at Diesel Power said that sometimes trash covers the draw tube in the tank, so have you ever had the tank cleaned? Sometimes its the simplest thing like a loose fitting that will drop the motor like a Mike Tyson overhand right.

I thought about that briefly, but my FP gauge shows 18-19lbs at the bottom of the fuel filter right before it goes to the VP44.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Had mine do die like that about 6 years ago. There was a code set, it was deep down inside the computer and took a DRBII to read it (the ODO and ODBII did not read it). It turned out to be an internal electronic failure in the VP44.
