NADM event Aug 7th @ RMR

Locating a quality shop...

Who is going to Truck Fest at Bandamire August 1st and 2nd? I'm gonna try to go. I would kinda like to make a run on the track, but i've never done it before. Anyone know how it works? Do i need to pre-register or can i do it when i get there? Cost? Hope to see some of you there!

Man this place is dead. :( My son and I are going to Diesels on the Mountain tomorrow and maybe the Truck Fest on Sunday. Look for the 1st gen in my signature.

Well what an absolute joke "Diesels On The Mountain" was! IMHO, it was pathetic. It should have been called Quaker State ET Series with a FEW Diesels. I'd guess, the percentage of racers that were diesels was about 10%, maybe. The huge majority of the racing was gassers. If I wanted to see that kind of event, I could go any weekend. To top it off, to get into the ATS Truck Pull event, you had to pay another admission fee of $10. Im my mind, that was totally false advertising.

i only went on sunday for truck fest... . seemed like a strong turnout for diesels on sunday. the diesel class was huge, and i would say the mojority of the 4wd class was also diesel. Wish we could have had more tdr member participation. I'm sure there were more members there, but i didn't see any of them. The colorado TDR community seems a little weak im my opinion.

I was there on Sunday - just wasn't too organized and didn't get a chance to look anyone up. I raced the Fordge - a 1978 Crew 4x4 with a 1997 12v in it. The picture shows me surrounded by the "enemy" in the staging lanes. I was in the 4wd street class, not the diesel class. Worked out well in that I could watch the fast diesels in between my runs. The Fordge has a D60 open diff rear end, and I was not prepared to do any 4wd launches, so I had a ton of wheelspin through 3rd gear both runs I took. Best was a 17. 9 @78mph or some such. Boost was going into 30psi, so I know I have a faster truck if I can get the power down! The day was already getting late before the eliminations started, and I had to drive my rig home yet to Monument (1 hour south), so I counted my 2 runs without breaking anything success and left about 4:30pm when the big rigs started their bracket.

Also attached is a fast 1st gen, I think it is Kurt's from this forum, though I am not sure if he was still driving it. This run he did a 14. 10 or a bit less, and that is with a 5spd 1st gen motor. Fantastic - one of the faster manual transmission trucks there. He left that Ford back quite a ways.

I included a nice burnout picture, then a staging picture showing all the dodge rams relative to the one Ford. I missed last year, but the year before there seemed to be more Chevy/GMC and Ford than this year. Tons of rams, just percentage-wise way more. There were some fast duramaxes no-doubt. Very few fast 6. 0 Fords, but quite a few fast 7. 3's there. There were several 9 second trucks making runs, whereas 2 years ago there were only a couple in the 10's. There were a dozen 10 second trucks, and a couple dozen 12 second rigs. Pretty amazing.

Sunday seemed well attended and was a fine event. I thought the pits were fuller this year than in 2007 when I last went - I had to go way out near the timing shack to park when I got there pretty late. Before I was about 2/3rds the way there.

good stuff,

jon

I wish I had skipped the Saturday joke and went on Sunday. My son and his buddy had a great time.

I don't know if it's the economy or what, but the days of lots to do in RMTDR seem to be a thing of the past. It was really fun when ATS had the "Summits" at their shop.

hey you caught me in the background of one of your pics! The burnout pic, i'm the white 2nd gen in the background, upper right corner, with the stacks and black bumper.

yeah that is Kurts first Gen, I think he was a little dissapointed as he can usually run in the 13's.

This was my first attempt at the 1/4 mile. ran a 16. 1 @ 86 mph. Was hoping to dip into the 15's but i guess i can't complain too much.

Is that you hiding in the shadow in that pic? You sure got a good view of that burnout - quite a pile of tire shreds on the ground after that one!

Nothing wrong with a 16. 1 for sure - pretty quick truck there.

Yep, I've seen Kurt run in the 13's there before too - but I'm not sure if that fancy ford new what he was in for when he lined up next to that 1st Gen! He sure had a nice view of the digital eta board when Kurt went through while he still had a few seconds to go yet:

Maybe next year we should all park together. At least we would all have a few things in common.

Thanks for the pics of my truck.

Disappointed I am; my best times this year were three 13. 80s. I am hopeful as I know I have a major fuel supply problem, nothing a Hellmann sump and new fuel supply pump can't fix. :)

The new digital et board is sweet!

Kurt

I went on Saturday to the truck pulls. It was really busy. The diesel racing on Saturday last year was slow also so this year I did not even go up there. I do not think they are involved with the racing on Saturday just the pulling.

Most of the guys are at the pulling track down below. The racing on Saturday was packed. I had a great time. It was better attended than last year. We should all park together just get to know each other.
