Another month to wait

Well the train is in Kent, WA so now the long wait for the ship to arrive in Anchorage, AK. I have at least 20+ more days to wait. You guys who are getting your trucks now I envy you so much. I can not wait until I can see my new baby, slide behind the wheel and once again feel the awesome power of a Cummins engine purring away. Rest assured I will be taking lots of pictures once she is in my loving hands.

If you order a truck through Dodge (or any DC product for that matter) they put your name on the window sticker if it's a sold order. I thought it was kinda cool.

Truck arrived in Spokane

Railcar arrived in Spokane Friday morning at 0550 and the truck was unloaded by 1830. I should be picking it up next week and will take pictures there. I have quite a few accessories being installed, including:

LEER canopy,

DiPricol gauges (EGT, Boost, Trans Temp)

Bushwacker fender flares (OE Style),

Spray-on liner over the rail, the rocker panels, the fender flares and the door entry area for an even look

SS nerf bars,

Prodigy brake controller,

Mudflaps,

3M protection on the front including the lights and section behind the headlights,

SS door handle inserts

Later I plan to install a rearview camera.

I'll post the pictures of each as one area I struggled with is visualizing what it would look like. By posting, I hope it will help others to decide for their truck.

Brad, congratulations! All of those add-on's make me wish I had added a few myself. What is the 3-M protection? My truck has just arrived in Spokane and expect to pick it up on the 6th with the ARMA (sp?) coating and rear wheel liners. I've ordered Onki rinning boards and plan to install them ASAP. Good luck with your new Dodge Cummins.

Thanks rcelum!

The 3M protection is a thin transparent film that goes over the paint. Some call it Stongard or the invisible bra. It is thicker for the lights. I had it on my '03 VW Golf TDI and it saved my expensive lenses on the lights and the paint on the hood. The hood on the truck is high enough where I don't have to worry about that, but the Laramie trim has paint on the bumper.

Josh recommended behind the headlights as well because that is a vulnerable spot too.

My wife had a black car and after a few years, the front looked like black/white sand from all the rocks and grit on the road hitting the paint.

I'm hoping to pick it up on Friday if not sooner.

Just found out today that my truck is in d1 status with an estimated ship date of 6-22. About how long will it take to arrive in Boston?Where do they get loaded from?

Truck

Mine left Ill. on a Thursday and got to california on Tuesday and I got it the next thursday, It had to be unloaded from the train then sat a day or so got on a truck then the dealer had to prep it ect. Worth the wait I love it , it drives so nice. can't wait to hook up the trailer, just 250 more miles and will do just that. Got a lear shell , diamond plate running boards so far just the start thou.

Wait till you use the exhaust brake you won't believe it , holds back even on the mountains here in Tahoe. came down two passes today in 6th gear all the way down, probably need 4th with the trailer.

Hi rbozek:

I answered this question in another thread where you asked a similar question. Do you know if the truck will be built in Mexico or St. Louis?

Here is my timeline. Boston is closer to IL than Spokane so yours should be a little quicker.

The timeline looked like this for me:

3/30 - placed order

3/31 - changed it to include the sunroof

4/2 - order no longer existed in the system

4/3 - order reappeared (they have seen this before with the system) and included VON

4/6 - VIN received, but then sat with no change in status until 5/4

5/4 - status changed to D1 and ESD (estimated ship date) of 5/15

5/15 - truck went to Framing

5/17 - informed by dealer that truck is on railcar #TTGX985444

6/1 - railcar arrives at Spokane at 5:50AM

6/1 - railcar status shows empty at 6:30PM and "load delivered to industry"

6/5 - truck is delivered from railyard to dealer

Brad,

I'm not sure where it will be built. I assumed all the diesels were built in the same plant. How can i find out where mine is being built.

rbozek: The VIN for your truck should identify the assyembly plant. The 11th digit just before the 6-digit serial number identifies the assy location. Mine was a "G" which is the Saltillo, Mexico plant. I ordered my truck on the 16th of April and it was loaded onto a railcar in Mexico on the 17th of May. It arrived at Dishman Dodge in Spokane on 6/3/07, for a total of 48 days from order to delivery. The biggest unpredictable is the railroad delivery due to all the variables of railroad operations. Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding on this.

rbozek: when the dealer calls to tell you the truck has been built, be sure to ask for the Union Pacific railcar number. Then you can track your truck to the final city it will be delivered to.
