The price is quite good.

Is anyone in the LA area, and can look at this?

If I get it, anyone out there wanna trade me? I need a bench front seat. You can have the buckets :)

Make sure to check out a LA rig very well. With all the stop and go traffic 166k can cause the wear of three times that many miles. Good looking rig, maybe it was just a 5th wheel hauler by looks of the plate in the bed. Very little paint wear on the door sill makes me wonder if it's been repainted-maybe an accident?

I've got 25 pictures of this thing emailed to me by the seller.

It has an aftermarket stereo, speakers mounted behind the jumpseats, and no evidence of wear or tear anywhere in any picture. There don't appear to be any dents or creases, nothing. it's almost as if they jacked it up on blocks and let it run 166,000 miles without touching the ground. Well, not quite. The trailer hitch (under bumper) seems very rusty. Of course, they tend to get that way, so I don't know if it means anything.

Even under the hood, everything is totally white and clean. Just too clean.

Notice the odd speakers back there.

It's definitely been repainted, overspray on the fan shroud. Probably done recently in order to sell it. Looks like it may be a higher quality paint job, but whenever I run into a used rig that has been repainted I have to wonder what's hiding under the paint. Maybe even a salvage rig.

Where abouts is it as i am 60 miles from la and would like to lend a hand. I tipically avoid la like the plague but might be able to make an exception for a fellow brethern.

no guarantees but i will see what i can do

I missed the overspray on the shroud... I was thinking it was just light from the low sun. Question is, what was fixed? It appears to have a new grille, which leads me to think it might have had minor front end repair. The front bumper is slightly tweaked, like it bumped something, but not real hard.

There is no overspray on the heater, brake booster, steering column, wire looms, etc. So the inside of the engine compartment wasn't painted, or doesn't appear to have been.

The radiator hose looks like a battery might have burst. Of course, if the front got nailed, that would have done it...

I'm expecting it should be able to be gotten for about 6000, maybe a little more. The seller emailed me because I asked him about something he sold on Ebay, and this is NOT on Ebay.

He emailed me on Tuesday night, and sent me pictures today.

Heck, I could buy it, drive it up here, and make $2000 in 2 weeks, provided it has no major defects. NO Cummins powered Dodge here sells for under 9000 it seems.

I just got a CarFax report on the truck. It is totally clean.

It qualifies for Carfax's title gaurantee. No wrecks, no salvage, no recalls for safety, and a host of other checks are all negative.

BTW, the seller provided it.

power wagon,

I talked to gabriel to come and look at it today but they are closed on sunday. I was trying to aviod going there during the week as traffic is a bear after work. What is your monetary situation as this seems like a lot of truck for 6800 and we need to be in a position to act immediatly or this could be just a waste of time. I would much rather go there with this already taken care of. Please understand that i am in sales and i prequalify everything that i do:rolleyes: No disrespect intended. let me know where you stand

Thanks

My very first impression was that it's been painted. It appears to be a quality job though, because they painted the whole underhood area. That means that everything bolted to the firewall and inner fenders must have been removed, and maybe even the engine. Now, the question is. . what's under the paint? Hopefully any rusted or dented sheetmetal was replaced with new or good condition used stuff. I'd say that since they went to the trouble to dismantle the underhood stuff that they did the job right elsewhere.

Why was this my first impression? Look at the hinges. No hinge on an older truck would look like that even if the owner kept the truck spotless. Heck. . no hinge spring would look like that on a brand new truck! :D

Doc

Yeah, something's been painted. Either that inside is factory clean, or they ripped it all apart to re-paint. Since it has no history of wrecks from Carfax, I'm somewhat at a loss to explain it. On the other hand, the factory sticker on the door jamb is NOT painted over. Can't tell in the pictures if it's been masked off and painted around, though. It was originally registered in '94 in California and had a title re-issued in 2000 (presume the loan got paid off??) in CA.

Some of this stuff you just have to see in person to know, and even then sometimes you can't tell.

Of course, the original owner might have been a Cummins nut like some of us, and just kept it immaculate for the love of it. The again, maybe not.

Ya got me on this...

This vehicle may have been painted due the original paint coming off in sheets. Mine is white and that's exactly what happened to me! :) It looks like it has had lots of TLC.

I think the truck was involved in a minor traffic accident... if you look closely in the pictures, you'll notice that the grill is missing the DODGE letters. This is an aftermarket grille because Dodge will not allow the aftermarket to use their name.

Overall it looks like a clean truck though. If it were me, I'd go for it.

Later,

Joe

Carfax could find no evidence of accident report on the truck.

Perhaps it was replaced for some minor incident that had nothing to do with traffic.

Hard to say.

I'll know a lot more on Wed.

The hardest part is... I have to sleep between now and then... and do homework. Do you know how HARD THAT IS to do?
