I have had my truck disassembled for about a month, both batteries out, unplugged the ECM harness for about a week, took the drivers side battery box out. Well now my truck wont start. Turn the key on, fass kicks on, gauges work, door ding works, no codes via bully dog, but when i push my clutch in it doesnt start. the starter does not click like a dead battery, it just does nothhing. 1st thing it is telling me is the connector for the master cyclinder, well checked that, its in there snug. When i turn my lights on, i get the door ding, the brite and fog light indicators come on, but my lights dont come on. I check ECM harness, there good, checked all battery and ground terminations, check all fuses, everythings good.

HELP:confused:

ok I checked it (starter is quart jar looking thing in front of slaver cyclinder, that is plugged in. I am almost wondering if it my ECM went dead? WHen i turn my key on, my right headlight comes on regardless of the position of my switch. WHen i turn my head light switch on nothing happens.

DOes anyone have a direct number for bullydog, i have been told that you can call them and they have a recovery code that reflashes your ecm in case it does go dead, or better yet does anyone have that code?

Unplug the Bullydog , to make sure the problem is not that , not sure what you mean by testing , I would use a test lite on non computer circuits , just the starter circuits .
Always check the basics 1st then move on to the other , you do not want to replace an ECM - hundreds , then find a bad fusible link -a few dollars .

my bullydog is a the programer, put it back to stock, took the tst out, still not pulling any codes.

If my ECM's memory went south, would it not display any codes?

i have a sears charger, i put it on both of them, 1 was at 80% and 1 was at 72%, i let them both charge on rapid for about an hour

under you hood there is a fuse box. . Check a 20amp fuse for a "starter relay"

That should/might be you problem. . Try it!

Mike

Any questions you can try calling me. 413-222-4607

fuese are good, doube checked them again.

WHen i turn my key on, my right tail head light comes on and my fog light indicatior comes on.

OK GOT AN UPDATE

If i just bang the key, it will start right up, throwing 3 codes, High Boost, Low Boost and ECM/PCM power. If i wait for the wait to start light to go out, it will not start. Also after i turn the to the on position for 4 seconds, my dash lights illuminate without the key on. Something tells me i have a positive/negative wire switched.

I took my batteries off, turned the key on and am going to wait for 30 minutes.

Would someone be able to help me go eye for eye on an 04 so i can trace these wires out???

Thanks.

well here is what i know

Mechanically the truck is fine. IT WILL ONLY START IF I JUST BANG THE KEY OVER. If i wait for the grid heaters it wont start. I drove about 10 miles, got up to about 60, everything mechanically runs fine.

Now to the electronics. Here are the issues:

will not start if wait for grid heaters to go out

after turning the key to the on position and NOT starting for 4 seconds, interior gauge cluster lights come on, fog light indicator lights comes on and right front head light comes on, all with the switch in the off position

no turn signals, rear lights, brakes lights, fog lights or headlight control with the switch on the outside, when i turn the signals on, the signal indicator comes on in the instrumental panel. When i turn my lights on via the switch, if the truck is off, i get the door ding, if i put them on high beams, i get the indicator, but no lights.

Horn does not work

Tempreature gauges just reads --

ABS light on

I pulled every fuse out and inspected, none were popped

I have NO CODES via my bullydog.

So now the million dollar question, is this an ecm issue or a wiring issue??

have you disconnected the grid heater wires??? do that but be very carefull to tape up the ends so they don't arc and cause a fire!!! that's where I'd start and see if something is going on with those---electrical issues suck big time----will keep thinking---maybe unplug the pcm and ecm and make sure none of the prongs are bent---chris

Well I am going to put in my 2 cents worth here. The original post doesnt really explain why you took everything out in the first place. Second thing if the truck was working normally before you did anything to it. I would suspect that something just didnt get connected back properly when it was put back together. If you can get the truck to start and run I would suspect that the ECM is working fine, but The other problems are too weird. If you are positive everything is connected properly. As much as I hate to say it I think your going to have to take it to a shop with the proper equipment to trouble shoot it.
