My truck just shut down

03 cummins loping undrivable

Truck is stalling while driving. No issues on the gauges. Will stall just a bit then pick back up. Does this more when cold.

If you are in freezing temperatures I suspect fuel gelling as previously mentioned, I have had that issue even with winterized diesel and additives. If it is above freezing could be many things but the FCA is a fairly common issue that can cause it.

Ok it was 28 night before last. Truck was plugged in but out side. I will keep an eye on it have some amsoil fuel additives I may try.

Do you have external fuel filters? That is what caused my gelling issue, the fuel will be heated up while cycling through the engine and with the stock fuel system that is enough to keep it from gelling for the most part but large metal filters retain so much cold temperature that the fuel does not warm up enough to flow through it, I ended up putting a heated fuel bowl on mine and that took care of it.

Check out "Hot Shot's Secret" additives. I've had good experience with their products. Might consider picking up some "Diesel 911" just in case it won't start if it gets real cold. Read up on the 911 as it isn't a regular additive = only add to fuel if needed...

No just the stock system. I am thinking about a FASS system.

If you are doin so then also install the add on fuel heater from FASS living in the cold states.
Trucks stock fuel filter has it already from factory.

So with a stock truck geeling is usually not an issue.

Do mean 28 below or 28 sbove?
I have started mine at 25 to 28 during the winter in Florlda. I would check supply line for cracks. Would check codes also.

Sounds like you may be having the same problem I'm having with one of my trucks at work I have an 05 EGR cp3 5.9 Freightliner MT45 (delivery van) that will stall or go into limp/shutdown mode (no throttle) until the engine coolent reaches 70°F . Then alls well till the next time the coolent drops below ~50°F . The Cando scanner is showing the fuel pressure is droping to ~2250-2750 psi combined with a stumble psi bounces back and forth a couple of times and then limp mode goes on where are RPMs drop to 300 fuel rail pressure stays constant at 2250 it just lumps along leave it like this for less than five minutes(depends on how far below 70° ) and the problem goes away till tomorrow making it a real pain in the a$$ to try and figure out what's going on. Check your rail pressures when you experience this problem the truck at work seldomly throws a code for this but does it almost every day here in Texas
