Sure hope you find it - and in a condition to where you'd WANT it back...:mad:

But, most likely back in the land of it's birth by now - a major problem in USA/Mexico border areas I hear...

Living right on the border, the local police claim that diesels are never stolen by Mexicans down here. They published a list of the top property for theives, diesels were not on it since diesels can't be owned by individuals in Mexico, so limited market. Probably went North.

not sure where you're getting your info, but diesels are certainly allowed in Mexico. Imported vehicles have to be at least 10yrs old to register them in Mexico. They love 12v's because they can actually work on them and they are good and reliable. They also use the engines for generators/pumps/etc.

the first time it was stolen it went to mexico and back a couple of times.

It was stolen before, you got it back, and you still didn't put some sort of an anti-theft/ alarm device on it?

Good luck anyways on getting it back this time.

Well, I cannot give a reference, I get that from - Mexicans! Diesel is $2. 02 in Matamoros, gasoline is about the same as ours just a little higher, and when I ask why no diesels, they tell me that they are not allowed to own them. I have NEVER seen a diesel with Mexican registration, except for buses of course. I just put the two together and assumed it was so. Also, the local police espousing that diesels are never stolen strengthened my so called knowledge. You sure got me fired up now, I will have to investigate this further. The Transmigrantes are taking them across in large quanties by the trailer load, but again, never saw a diesel going over (but most of them are not stopping in Mexico, going further souh). Wonder if it is different in different states?

I must plead guilty to being full of it. I can find NOTHING on the internet that even remotely supports my obviously inaccurate post about diesels owned by Mexicans. .

there is a guy on DTR that has a bunch of 12v trucks

hope you find it still in one piece , don/tx is right diesels cannot be exported to mexico not even semi trucks , only buses. what people does its buy trucks with gas vins and swap a diesel on it, what can be exported to mex is gas trucks 5 years older for the border cities and 10 yr old only so 97 or 98 now for cars & trucks with first vin number 1,2,3,4, or cars made from the treaty countrys , usa canada & mexico.

Thanks for jumping in with that, I knew there had to be SOMETHING that made it a poor choice.

Tonight on the news here a winter Texan had his Ford dually diesel stolen from the Ford dealership where he had left it for work, and it got into a police chase. Smart crooks, they actually wanted to steal a backhoe! They knew of a fiver hitch flat bed trailer they could steal, so they stole Ford with a fifth wheel hitch, went and got the trailer, then went and loaded up the backhoe! Someone reported them, the police gave chase. When it would not outrun the cops, they stopped along a sugar cane field and ran for it, and got away clean. Had they stolen mine, the cops would probably still be trying to catch up with them!:)

Thank you for sticking up for us Mexicans...

My got stolen two months ago in Tulsa, Ok. There was a article in the paper about a week before stating that around that area truck theft was up especially diesels. Then in Tx it was stated that they were stealing them to smuggle drugs because of the stiff suspension.
