Rather than having the stock injectors fixed/cleaned and calibrated for $200. He's getting me a set of the Bosch 275 injectors for about $550. I figure if I'm having to shell out all this money for a rebuild, I may as well get a faster truck back.

Oh yeah. . and the block resleave on #6 plus honing all cylinders plus turning my pressure plate = less than $400

It's so nice to have good friends in the diesel industry!! Oo.

I hope $550 for Bosch RV 275 injectors is the installed price! I'm sure this ordeal has whacked your truck budget, so you should get your money's worth. I ran 275's for a couple years with an EZ. That's a good, safe, low budget upgrade for someone with those objectives. I have to say though, that after installing the 275s, my first test drive was a bit of a dissapointment - I was expecting more. Considering that I bought them used, installed them myself, and sold them when I was done, it was a great deal. But I'm much happier now with the F1 Mach 1. 6 and ofter wonder if I should have just gone to the Mach 4 and been done with it??

Good luck with your rebuild.

I was wrong on the initial price. He's getting them for $70 a piece brand new from either a bosch dealer, or straight from the factory. I know you can get a set of rebuilds for around $280 - $340. Probably not neccesary to go with a brand new one over a rebuilt one, but hey, it's only money right?

They're the same new 275 injectors. I dunno why your guy is so much higher. When I got my 275's... a few years ago now... I paid $300 new, ran them for a couple years and sold em for $250. Get the ones from Opoole

By the time I'm done with this project I'll be into it for about $3800 parts and labor. :{ :{

#6 cylinder bored and sleaved

all other cylinders honed

brand new set of pistons

brand new set of bearings

Gasket sets

pressure plate (flywheel?) resurfaced

Injectors

Labor pulling the whole thing apart and putting it back together

plus a few other things I'm probably forgetting

I know of a lot of other things I would have liked to do with that money, but I guess that's the way it goes.

It could have been worse I guess, I could have let cummins do it for $10k :--)

Got the truck back yesterday. I hauled a trailer home for the break in. All I have to say is :--) This thing hauls ***. I had to back off on the hills because I was able to slip the clutch so easily. Time to get a southbend now!

Same setup

Houser here

I have the exact same setup as you on my p/up and so far havn't noticed the clutch slippin. Mine is just turnin 80k. I noticed you had your fly wheel turned when you got your rebuild, did you have your original clutch reinstalled? How many miles on your truck?

So, what caused this? Washdown from the bad injector?

Yes, that's what we figure. The truck was low on oil (which probably didn't help) but the bearings did not show any abnormal wear (which according to him should have shown some sign of wear if oil were the issue).

Yeah, the clutch still had about 75-80% life left so I had him put that one back on. Truck has 135k miles on it

oh, and I really have to get on it to slip the clutch empty. It was mainly just slipping when I was pulling (about a 16k lb trailer) up steep grades and really getting into it.
