Factory tow wireing

I need some help planning my camper electrical...

I'm headed to Reno this Friday for some desert riding and I'm taking the 5th wheel over Donner for the first time - yep, snow is predicted.....

Anyhow, is there a truck stop/RV friendly station on I-80 between Sac & Auburn? My trailer is 36ft so the little corner station is kinda out of the question.

Brian,

There's a new Union 76 station at the Penryn exit which is about 10 minutes east of Roseville on I-80. Large station with plenty of turning space.

Brian,

I also wanted to say to make sure you've got tire chains for both truck and trailer. The conditions can change really fast over the summit and if towing they will make you chain up even with a 4X4.

Use the Go Comcek information shown below to locate fuel on I'states and major highways

Hi All!

As a result of all the controversy of the latest fuel price increases, the following is a listing of some of the Truck Stop Web Sites. When you navigate through the sites you can get the current Diesel, Gas (“J” only) prices along with the location, phone # and other amenities/ services available.

Remember that in OR the listed Diesel price is the PUC permit holder price. All others (car & RV) without a UPC permit have to ADD $0. 24/gal to the price.

In AZ the Car/RV Diesel price is -$0. 09/gal LESS than the “Big Truck” price. If you use the “Big Truck” side to fuel, most if not all truck stops will, if BEFORE FUELING, adjust the price if you call and tell them that you are a RV (they can verify it with the camera). Remember to call before fueling. To prevent “slowing up” the “big truck” side it is best to use a dedicated “RV” island or the Car Island if there is enough room. I don’t know if there are states other than AZ & OR that have similar programs.

“J” has a program called “Real Value” that gives you a $0. 01/gal discount for Diesel/Gas and $0. 05/gal discount for Propane along with other promotional items. Sign up is free and can be done over the I’net.

GoComchek is an organization that will show the fuel prices (not “J”) along the I’state system and major US highways. They won’t show the local Mom & Pop fuel located OFF the main highways. I use it mainly to determine the relative fuel costs in one area or another. I. E. should I fuel up in KS or wait until we get into CO,

If anybody knows of another Truck stop website why don’t you post it for all to see and use?

Got chains for both - no problemo. Had to go to Winnemucca 2/1 so I got hit with chain control from Nyack to the summit on Sat night. I can't believe some of the idiots that are out there.....

I wont be doing the Boar. In fact I haven't been riding in 4-5 months. I'm getting one house ready for sale and am moving into the other one. Many things to do. May sounds doable. Monty's got a TTalk ride scheduled for the March 29th weekend at Stony. I'm going to try and make the Saturday ride. You should come up.

"Clear Creek"... haven't been there is years. . used to ride there a bunch ... way back when lol

I started there in the early 70's . . there wasn't power in the Inn til about mid 80's. . lots of good days riding and drinking around the fire and at the Inn over there. . it's been prolly 20 years since I been there

Good memories :D

Dirt Bikes

You guys oughta get together with My6eatsV8's and BPINE. They ride at those locations. Several other Ram Runners are dirt bikers and ride those areas as well.

CFN

For what it's worth, there's a CFN that also takes Credit Cards right off HYW65 near Blue Oaks... this is about a 3 mile detour from I-80 on the way up the Sierra's, but this is where I fill up all the time. If you take hwy65 North (just past Eureka and Taylor Rd Exits) to Blue Oaks, go left back over the fwy, and stay in the left lane that goes behind the Albertsons regional warehouse, you'll see the truck stop in there. Plenty of room for ANY size trailer, and the cheapest prices that I've found in the area, although it's gone up lately... I think 1. 789/gal now... but that's still better than anything else around here other than the quickie mart that's 1. 749, but I trust the big truck stop fuel which is worth the nickel to me.
