With my son in town for a visit, he and I crawled under the truck with a tape measure and checked the toe on my truck. Lo' and Behold... it was set up with a 1/2 inch of toe-out! No wonder it was shimming. We adjusted it to a 1/4" of toe-in and it drives like a dream and rides much smoother. I hate to say it but I probably "wasted" all that money I spent on the new steering box and DSS. But man does it drive nice!!!:-laf
I wouldn't say you wasted money. Those upgrades make your steering even better than stock (3 turn box) and cause it to steer like a sports car. The DSS will protect any steering box you use. I have both them upgrades and they are money well spent... . death wobble or not.

Glad to hear it's fixed. I have read other threads on DTR (Diesel Truck resource):

by those savy on alignments and toe was a very important factor in our front ends. Typically zero toe as I remember is best.

I never had it until I replaced all the linkage on my 2000 with 1999 linkage. I also replaced the gearbox with the 3 turn unit. I replaced the trackbar with the 2003 type using the solid steel industries mount. First time I drove it, hit a bump at 60 mph and thought it was going to shake apart. I am scheduled to take it back to the alignment shop tomorrow and if they can't stop it, I may put all the old linkage and track bar back in.

Check the toe. With the T link setup up from 99 your toe in won't change as the nose moves up and down so make sure it has just a little of toe in. I found on mine, any toe out or zero toe will start things a shakin!

Took back to alignment shop and the left side was toed out about 2 degrees. They reset the toe-in left side to . 03 and right side to . 04. So far all is well. They said all the other settings were good.
