Has anyone sold or purchased a 2nd generation 24 valve truck lately and would be willing to share the purchase or selling price? I'm considering selling my 01 2500 4X4 quad cab long bed truck with 138K on it but have no idea what to ask for it. I've been reading that the used vehicle market is very good now.

I requested a quote from Vroom and Carvana because I've also read that people have been very happily surprised with the amount these companies have offered. Vroom came back with an offer of $2000. and Carvana offered $5300. I have to believe that these trucks are selling for a lot more than that or am I all wet?

Thanks for any and all advice.

My numbers may be low and out of date. Throw an ad out for about $25,000. (2WD is $15-17K.) If your phone blows up it's too low. OBO means someone can offer you more money as a best offer. Don't fall for the I am there first trap and sell to the first offer. It is a sellers market now. Look on the local craigslist for a ballpark. Also check Kelly Blue Book.

Just bought a 99 with 340,000 miles fair condition it’s been used for the last 22 years . Needs the front differential rebuilt needs rear brakes and wheel seals needs a set of 6 tires paid 4000.00$ Various small oil leaks and a few things like that

N.A.D.A is constantly updating their values, sometimes multiple times a day.

What does it tell you the value is?

I checked the N.A.D.A site and came up with just under 8K on my old '99. Other than the high miles the truck is near perfect.

nine five to twelve five depending on what shape irs in and options

Thanks for the replies and suggestions everyone.
For some reason I can't navigate my way through the NADA site but Kelly Blue Book shows a value from 10-13.5K. I couldn't find anything real local on Craigslist but there are a few within a couple of hours drive.

The white one with a camper shell here looks just like my truck other than the short bed so it looks like Tuesdak's figure could be in the ballpark for a starting price.

Since I sold mine before the chip shortage took off, I see a lot of them asking but not so many selling at those absurd prices, but there's ____ born every day, for me, I asked a fair price for mine and sold it and didn't deal with any tire kickers etc. 50k for a 13 SLT CCLB w 100k miles is stupid crazy, 20k+ for a 20y old truck is also crazy IMHO, but as has been said its a seller's market so good luck... If the market is still like this when I get back from ID next month, I may put my 20' (maybe the 5er) up for sale and then buy a 23' when the market normalizes....

This reminds me a lot of the Coda / Challenger craze on Barret Jackson several years ago where anything was selling for 100k plus, not sure those were smart investments, but some were making a lot of money

Avoid VROOM at all costs. Trust me. Myself and countless others have waited 6 months or so on titles and registrations, payments, etc. Just don't do business with those fools.

Well, huh. So my 1996 2500 4x4 rust-free club cab with 5 speed manual (see my signature file) that just turned 78,000 miles might be worth more than $1,000? It needs a complete paint job and new dash top as are common, but maybe even more than $2,000. :p

For what it's worth, in 2019, we sold our bottle-shaped 2007 Town & Country with 80,000 miles on it, that needed paint under a "had to sell it this morning" situation. Drive Time gave us the best price. Service was fast and professional. We were in & out in under an hour, and took delivery of the Pacifica after lunch.

2nd Gen Dodge Ram 2500 diesel trucks are often listed in the $10K and up range depending on condition on various web listings.

Sounds like you have about $7-8,000 in repairs so That's about right. $12,000 for a good sound rig.

Have seen some that are almost new (under 150,000 miles) for as high as $30,000.
Considering new trucks go for as much as $85,000 that doesn't sound all that outrageous

Nicest trucks I have found are in Seattle and Portland areas. Lots of garage parked retired owners up there in the Northwest.

Check classifieds here. I seem to recall an 01 with 100k or so, great shape, garaged and I think he was in the 15k market +/-
