Revisiting this thread...
If it cranks more than normal ONLY when the engine is hot/warm but then starts normal as soon as you release the fuel pressure built up in the fuel filter canister then the fuel system is being pressurized which is affecting the VP during engine starting.

How?...is either from an overly aggressive fuel pump during engine cranking (fuel pressure?) or there's fuel pressure building in the fuel tank due to leaking injectors pumping air into the return line. You said you dont hear any air escaping from the fuel tank cap but remember that it has to build up and the time to do so would be dependent on how much fuel is in the fuel tank. Full tank = not much time. 1/4 tank = a lot of time.

So if its the pressure in the tank then it either because the fuel tank vent is still capped from the assembly line or its plugged up from dirt/debris, since if it was venting properly then there wouldn't be any fuel pressure retained in the fuel filter housing when the engine is off.

Now that I think about it, I do remember the fuel cap whoosh the last time I filled up. How would I go about unplugging the fuel cap? Thanks for your help in advance

Depending on your stature and girth, you may be able to get under the truck with a flashlight and peer up along the fuel tank. There's enough room between the tank and bed to see the module if you get get your head high enough up under there. If not then you'll probably have to pull the driveshaft out and then you'll have all the room you should need to get up there. You can also gain a few more inches by loosening the tank straps. Just dont completely undo them...

What you'll be looking for is on the top of the fuel module is a few plugs and hose connections. There's also a 90* plastic connector that looks like a barb fitting. If its capped then thats bad and means the assembly line worker didnt remove it. If there's no cap then you'll want to make sure its free of dirt/debris and venting. I connected a very short hose on mine and put a see through fuel filter on it to keep crud out.
I would show you a picture if I could find one...
