Hey folks,

Just got a piece of email passed on to me. They need trucks with hitch and brake controller to take travel trailers from Kingston, NY to Selma, Alabama. There is a FEMA re-imbursement for the trip, estimated 20hours and 1,200 miles each way.

Contact John Dunham or John Poll at 860-330-8200. The company is Camper's Barn

Interesting, Just missed an oppertunity to do the same with a local company.

Just mapquested this, it prolly wouldn't be worth me taking trucks up to NY, then comming back thru here on to AL.

Sounds like an opportunity to help, and if it pays, well, sounds like a nice oppertunity.

Yes, I think this is a great opportunity to do some good. If the FEMA re-imbursement covers my expenses, so much the better!

I don't think anyone will be getting rich hauling trailers, but it will get someone who needs it some temporary housing.

Hey Matt

That phone number is no good 860-330-8200. Is that the RV place in Kingston, NY exit 19 of the New York State Thruway?

You know what? I have my head up my butt. The number is 845-330-8200!

I gather it is the same place. If that is off RTE 209 near Johnson Ford, then it is definetly

the same place because that is how it is described in the email.

Hey Tim

I called tonight, I'm going to do it if it works out. I'll call again on Saturday. Are you thinking about going for it.

I'm not sure, I'd like to but I'm in the process of packing for a move into our new house and I work in Albany on 12 hour shifts so my time off is limited next week, right now I'm on nights through Tuesday morning but have to work over 8 hours Tuesday morning, then I'll be off Wednesday and Thursday and I'm right back in Friday, this is my busy two weeks, I just got off of my 7 days off. I didn't notice your location the first time I looked at this thread, did you see the thread about a NY get together? If you can hook up and travel with Wheaties towing a trailer down, he's a good man to tag along with.

Hey Tim,

That is awfully nice of you to say... . I will be towing a trailer down if I can. They were supposed to call me back last night, but did not. I guess I'm going to have to call them again and see what's what. Yesterday I thought I'd be on the road by this time today, now I have no idea. I have a few other folks that are going to try to join in. I'll post when I know more.

Matt

Alright, third try:

The number is: 845-338-8200

I just talked with the Trailer Barn and they are no longer taking names. If your name is already in the hat, they said they would be calling back by Monday to schedule.

Sorry about posting the wrong number (twice).

Does anyone know what the FEMA reimbursement fee is going to be???? IE by the mile or a flat rate per trip or maybe just a flat rate to cover fuel and expenses, Just curious. I'd be interested regardless.

Last week, a shop here near Chicago was looking for trucks to tow travel trailers down to N. O. I heard it on the radio first on Wednesday afternoon, by the time Friday morning rolled around, they'd already had an overwhelming response. They were taking names, and passing them on to other local dealers that also had FEMA sales.

BTW, the deal here is for fuel reimbursement, apparently, NOT full expense reimbursement.

That's about like FEMA, hual trailers from NY, when 80% of trailer plants are in the south. More like northern Alabama.

They said it was upwards of $2000 reimbursement with $1000 up front before you left. Honestly, I had so many questions, when the guy at the other end started talking about 1099's I lost track of whether you get the whole $2000, or if you get a certain amount above $1000 based on receipts, or what.

I'm just glad I can do something to help and overjoyed that the fuel is covered.

Matt,

I called a few times and was not able to talk to John. It seems he is out of town. Are you scheduled to take a trailer. From what I've heard they haven't shipped a single trailer yet. I'm ready to go. I don't care about the money, I just want to do something to help.

See my note above. If your name is on the list already, they may call us tonight (Monday)

about a Tuesday departure. If your name isn't on the list yet, they have enough names, and aren't taking more. I get the impression, they're a little overwhelmed by the response.

I expect to be called tonight to be notified that I will be leaving tomorrow. They'll call you tonight too, if they need you. Hope to see you on the road!!!

Do you figure they'll caravan us all together?

Matt

Well I got no call, so I guess I'm not going. They either have enough people for today (Tuesday) or they have it all in hand. It would have been nice to do something to help.
