I have a dealer trying to sell me an 11-04-04 build 3500 with a 600. He says they reflashed it and now it is a 610. Is this correct or possible? Should I buy a 600 or a true 610 with a 12-21-04 date with regards to improvements or resale? Thanks,

Quinn

I have never heard any explanation as the difference between the 600 and 610. The HP levels are the same. If you like the truck, get it.

I remember someone here on the forum said that the difference between the 600 and the 610 was that they used a thicker pen when they drew the torque curve on the chart. Like klenger said, that is the best explaination that I've heard so far!

There are a few guys claiming they got this relash but I for one have not seen any documontation on it.

My build date was 10/?/04 and it already was a 610.

600 or 650?

If DC wanted to create a 650 with a reflash they could very easy. They would do the same thing TST or EZ does with their computer upgrades. DC has to meet EPA requirements. They can't go overboard. :{

I believe there is a change to the trans, also, beside the thrust washer. It was some function controlled mechanically (by a lever, maybe???), but is now controlled by the ECM.

Who knows what happens when.

There is a member out there who has the DC factory pump in the tank as well as the lift pump on the engine.

Talk about running changes on products! :-laf

I have an '05 with the "600" engine. Buy it. I haven't had one regret about this one, done some heavy towing with it, and I have no idea who would ever be able to tell it was a "different" engine than the 610.

It was all a numbers game so they could jump ahead of Chevy's 605 Duramax.

While these "600", "610", and "605" numbers on the Dodges and Chevys refer to torque specs, I have been told by reliable sources that the Ford 6. 0 "570" designation is making reference to the number of expected trips to the dealer during the life of the engine.

QWaller;

If they reflashed it, have them prove it to you, and put there tool on the port, and show you the proper numbers. Maybe they done the 18-0037-04??????????

Is the salesman's eye BROWN???????? He may be full of it. Just a caution on your part.

Good luck

Marv.

The reflash was for engine serial numbers 57130285 thru 57246361. If your serial number is beyond this range, then your truck came with the flash already installed.

I feel that when my truck got the reflash it made it a 610. The 04. 5 does have a different program than the 05, but I don't know what the difference is. I can only assume that because the Bully Dog programmer for the 05 is different than the 04. 5 and Bully Dog must know something. They reprogramed the downloader to address the issues with this TSB.

I would say go with the 600 engine because you don't want the plastic intercooler caps.

Lets ask Tommygun-I belive he can tell us if any dealer can

I dont think the reflash STATES for sure that the torque is higher... But there is NO way to tell

Even a dyno would not show the 10 ft-lbs I think

cannot prove the numbers ,so they claim them. :D

I just bought a 610. i had a choice of many 610s and 600s so i drove 2 each the 610 run smother and done better on fuel so i took a 610 love it!! it seems that most of the post saying the 600s are the same are from 600 owners!! I also see guys spend any amount to get a little more power, so buying a 610 for the same money a s a 600 is sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

funny you should mention the plastic intercooler caps. I was giving my 05 a final inspection today before signing the papers and noticed them. I thought WTF!! first no more fender liners and now a plastic intercooler caps.
