Hey guys, I've read of this before, but after an hour of searching I have yet to find a really good thread that outlines what exactly is going to be involved in the swap of a p pumped 12 valve into a 2nd gen truck that had a V10 in it. I'm looking at buying a 1998 2500 or 3500 with V10 and 5speed manual and putting a 95 or similar p pumped 12 valve 5. 9 into it. I suspect things like the engine mounts will need to be changed, but what about the other stuff like fuel tank and filler, sending unit etc? Obviously I would need the cummins computer, but would I need other electronics too? Would I need a donor truck for all of the little things that would come up like throttle and cruise control cables, or because it would be a V10 truck would it be pretty straight forward? I'm sure I've read of this before, but if I search v10 I get no results, and if I search something like cummins conversion I get 97 pages worth of conversions of fords, chevs, boats, etc.

thank you in advance.

Gene (Sledpuller) did a similar swap a few years ago if I remember correctly. Not exactly sure now what year engine he used.

I had a V10 before the CTD, the fuel pump is in the tank, Of course you would need engine electronics from the CTD, and I would beef up that clutch on that NV4500

I wonder if the tanks are the same and they just have different [ump / sending units. Someone needs to write an article on this. I'd pay $5 for it that's for sure.

If you have not bought the truck with the V10 in it yet, why not find a truck that already has the diesel engine in it. If the engine is bad and you can buy the V10 truck for little or nothing, that may be a feasible job to tackle. These parts for the swap can add up in a hurry, so pencil all expenses out beforehand to make sure it is worth the time and money.
