The real problem is the cold weather high idle program that exist now, star said that their is no way to remove it and DC did not program a deactivate feature. A override feature could cause damage without a external device.

There is one other item that needs to be taken in to consideration and that is that there is a real servo unit that does the cruise controlling on automatics and it would seem be easy to use that unit bump up the idle. And with the 04 ECM running both the engine and automatic transmission (and cruise controll fucntions) this should allow for doing this features not really hard.

That"s a good point.

What about the sales code info on this TSB? Can anyone tell me what ETC or ETH is? I looked on the engine data plate, door plate and window sticker but no sales code. Is there a chart somewhere that list sales codes and what they mean?

ETC = Standard Output

ETH = High Output

I now have install the TM5900-ISB control unit,It was a 2. 5 hour job. The reason it took that long is because I install the A remote start relay to the TM5900 UNIT. {MOST REMOTE START MODULES WILL REQUIRE THIS},With the push of a button in the cab it will bump idle up from 725 to 1500 RPM"s were you set it last it will remember the setting,Also with the turn of a dial it will bump up. With the push of a button on your remote starter it will bump your idle to the last setting. If you install a brake relay you can bump your idle down to factory settings with your remote.

All things consider ,I think this setup is superior to the stock program.

Its like disabling an automatic feature to have it manual. I have to admit it gives more driver control as I could see choosing maybe 1200 for warm ups unless of course you live in a very cold climate then 1500 would be the one I would go for.

The best feature would be for those needing a specific RPM to power other stuff

I had my TSB done when it first poped up here on the board. Once it was done it never get cold enough for me to use it tell I went to Colorado couple of weeks ago and I can say from seeing it myself that both still work. When I started my truck up in the morning I would manuall high idle it for a while, but when I was filling up with diesel I just let it idle normal and after 2 mins it automaticly bumped up to 1,000 RPMs so with this TSB you get the manual high idle and the auto high idle to.

I'll second what JWillms said.

Last Tuesday morning it was 23 degrees in Lexington KY. My truck's automatic high-idle worked just fine.

Didn't have time to use the 1500 RPM manual high-idle to see how quickly the engine would warm up.
