TSB question

I have a question that has been bothering me for a few days!

The TSB #18-024-00 for vehicle performance. It states... Low engine power when the automatic transmission is in overdrive.

The customer may complain of low engine power and or poor performance. The repair procedure involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Cummins engine control module... .

OK now for the question... Does the ECM just up and forget its program or does all of the 131,913 trucks have this problem and they hope no one is shown this TSB? Because my truck falls between the #'s on the TSB but I havent noticed any low power problems with this. If this is a way to gain a little more performance in OD Ill go and complain Any comments?

For all the good it did I complained!

DC said mine didn't require it. Already up to spec. And I still felt like I had low power in all gears. Truck GVW is 10,500 lbs. The only answer for me was to BOMB Happy with it now. and think I'll be happier yet with more upgrades coming



But it can't hurt to check (Well maybe from what I've read around here about DC mechanics it might).

T4L, I had a problem where the trans would not kick down when passing at about 60mph. The dealer performed this reflash and it took care of the problem. I do have a slight hesitation at 1700 rpm when cruising up a slight grade thought. Dealer tried the same reflash and it did nothing. I didn't notice the hestitation before the reflash, but it's so suddle(sp?) i could have missed it. It's something that could be mistaken for a series of small bumps on the road. IMO and I'm sure most others on this site, if you don't have to go to the dealer, stay away.
