Hearing about all this damage from guys with the TST box, I'm getting a bit nervous. I've ordered one, just hasn't shipped. Gonna replace the 6 gun with it, not the power curve I like. Juice is an option, but the TST has more power from what it sounds.

How bout it guys?

The TST has the ABILITY to make more power. You'll need a new turbo and a new clutch before you can realize that power.

Play it smart - use the TST elbow that will come with the box, and keep the settings below 5/5. Don't run over 30psi of boost, don't run the truck hard then let off instantaneously on the pedal (easy into the throttle, easy out of the throttle), and don't lug the engine.

I am running the TST and love it. Just be responsible with it and learn self control. I have ran the power setting up onto level 9 when playing, but have also fully realized that with the stock turbo I am playing with borrowed time. Respect the power that the box is capable of making and you can't go wrong. Horsepower per dollar it is one of the best investments you can make

TST all the way, play safe and it is a box you can build up with, enjoy. Hey ThomasLaw. why did you say not lug the engine, I will put my TST on 4/5 and be in like 3rd or 4th and roll lightly into it or even 5th and 6th so it will smoke like H$#L I dont see that it is hurting anything, sure smokes out the ricers, LOL.

TST all the way! Awsome power but you must have guages and SELF CONTROL... 5-5 I have done, but I have heard of turbos blowing at this setting.

I drive daily at 2-3 and sometimes 3-3 and can move it very well and if I want to kick a## 4-4 will do it well although EGTs start moving really fast once you hit 4 on torque

You (and I) can do that. He's going to be running a stock turbo. Lots of throttle at low RPMs produces a lot of heat, that the stock turbo can't deal with. I told him not to lug his engine to spare his turbo.

Hooked up to 14,000 lb RV tonight. Setting on 2/2. I have my wastegate set to open later then stock or TST; so I hit 35 lbs really quick and easy even on 2/2. I haven't even pegged it hard enough to see where the wastegate opens yet -- I need to ease into it sometime to test it out. If it doesn't open I don't want to suddenly dump enough fuel into it to blow the turbo to bits. But I am SUPER happy with my current setup. Even running about two thirds throttle at 75mph pulling up hill; 32lbs of boost; never went over 1000 degrees measured in the ATS exhaust manifold. I still have the stock exhaust. The ATS has dropped about 250 degrees off the high end temp.

Thanks guys, I'll probably install it and take it easy, what turbo is anyone using for aftermarket upgrade? HX40?

I've got gauges, exhaust and airaid.

Hey, I have the same question -- Which turbo with this guys?

Thanks!!

I'm also thinking about getting a TST, but everyone says not to let off the throttle too quickly. . What if you are takeing off and you have a manual transmission when you shift gears is that too fast????

Don't worry, install the TST. You'll be happy with it.

I would advise purchasing an Edge EZ to stack with it though.

The bottom end will liven up with the EZ.

Just a bit longer and we will have an awesome single charger to run with the TST! Or even TST+injectors+pressure box, As I write this there are some being developed and tested that are standing up to punishing tests of all settings of TST+100 HP EDM's+EZ lvl 5! Oh yeah did I mention all that with about 1200 deg. at around a quick 35 PSI!!!

Don't worry about huffing the stock turbo. It's pretty tough and small in diameter. I have yet to hear if a huffing failure on a stock turbo.

Correct Scott, very few cases of stock chargers getting fragged, as for the bigger ones, those are a diffrent story. Do you think that maybe because of the added duration on the higher settings (the ones that apparently do the damage) That the injectors are staying open too long in the stroke causing some flames or even fuel to be getting past the valves and causing the carnage? Just a thought.

Hey, that's the combo that I'm after. :D What's the ETA on this turbo? Any dyno numbers with this combination? Will it spin the tires? *smile*

That is a possible cause for the turbine damage that's been happening. The tendancy for larger turbos to "huff" or "bark" to the point of failure can be primarily attributed to the additional rotational mass in the larger wheels.

ETA not quite sure but these turbos are out in the real world right now being used and abused, and also some diffrent housings are being tested as well to see if there are any better set ups for diffrent applications.
