As far as the computer: it is not accurate stock and I reckon it is going to be less accurate with modifications especially if it doesn't "know" about them. The right way to figure this out is to calculate it by hand.

That being said, once you've done a hand calculation a few times, you will know how far off the computer is more-or-less. On my Hemi it was always high, mostly by 2 mpg but not always. I would have a good idea what it was going to be by looking at the computer.

I always reset the computer at each fill.

Right now I am doing a test with 4/3 on TST and 1 on EZ, normal driving. For me that is Bay Area commuting on freeways which probably compares to half and half city driving and freeway driving.

The computer is right now on 19mpg. When I fill up next time, I'll let you guys know what the hand calculated number comes to.

TST 4/3, EZ 1. What is on the truck listed below in my sig. Has 1500 miles on it.

17. 28 mpg hand calculated over 320 mile of mixed driving. Computer said 18. 7 at the time. There were some short trips in there, sitting in traffic, and a few times I couldn't help myself and stomped on it. Would definitely be over 20 on a freeway cruise based on that. Pretty good, I'm impressed. With 32 gallon in the tank (I don't usually stand there for 20 minutes trying to get it completely full), that would be about 550 mile range at that milage. Also very good.

I have over 60 fills worth of data for the Hemi and with the same week's worth of driving it was in the high 11s to low 12s. It also would have been empty after those 320 miles.

I want to say thanks to those of you who posted their mileage. I have decided to set the PWRMAXCR on 4X4 and leave it there. On this tank I started at 1x1 then went to 3x3 for a day and then I set the controls on 4 x4. I didn't think we were getting decent mileage but then my wife told me last night that she had not filled the tank completely full  . She had stopped at $60 worth. So that right was throwing me off looking at the fuel guage. Anyway like I said before mainly city or back road driving with a little bit of highway driving and some playing with the new found power and with 7500 miles on the truck 15. 5 isn't to bad for now. I really feel that it will do better after some more miles and with more highway driving.

Everyone have a safe and Blessed 4th of July.

Check out Spooled-up's add in the classified concerning the tank fill vent kit... Unless you get less fog/rain up there than we do down here. :) Last fill up, it kicked off with fuel in the NECK!

Great Thread

My best mileage has been with TST set on 1/2. According to the stock HP/TQ that TST has been seeing in 04. 5's this should bring the truck close to the advertised HP/TQ. To test properly I would think that you need to drive till there is 0 on the DTE and fill up to the neck, set your Power Max and drive it that way for the whole tank. Then hand calculate.

The overhead is a POS. I don't even trust it for avg readings as they tend to float and overcompensate. I only trust it for DTE and I'm beginning to wonder about that as well. I think you're empty when the needle rests on the bottom stop of your guage. Anything other than that is an estimation. Sorry about the rant.

Continuing..... repeat the above procedure with different settings. Careful attention must be paid to your shift points as well. For instance, never shift at more than 2K rpm or whatever you decide for the whole tank. According to recent TDR magazine articles the HPCR seems to like 1900 to 2200 RPM for steady cruise. Full torque comes on at 1600RPM. As long as your not loaded and lugging the engine it really doesn't care if your at 1000RPM or 2000RPM. I would choose a shift point where it catches the RPM range slightly below 1600 RPM for me this is a shift point around 2000 - 2200 RPM unloaded.

I have often wondered if the torque setting makes a difference. It sounds like it does from some of these posts. It makes sense that it does from the perspective of requiring more energy to create that torque.

By the way I'm getting about 18-19mpg combined, hand calculated with 70/30 city/highway.

Please feel free to add, correct or enlighten.
