New Smarty 1 problem, many questions

I wanted to ask this question to see if I am the only one! As of yet I have not read or heard of anyone else having this issue.

The TST or the Smarty on my truck, by themselves, work as they are supposed to. When I try to run them together on any setting, my truck stumbles when ever I stab the throttle or at wide open throttle. I am not talking anything minor, this is a very noticeable miss, several in a row if I keep it pinned. TST 1/1, Smarty #1 stumbles, the higher settings do not seem to stumble any more often, just more severe.

I have my rail capped, and a new Walbro system installed so I do not believe I am running out of fuel, as I had previously thought.

Bob Wagner is in discussion with Marco about this and I am waiting for any possible reason that they think is happening, but if anyone reading this has had a similar result and a possible cure I would sure like to here from you.

(I have never downloaded any other program. )

Is the smarty program you are using adding timing, if so it may be too much.

I had a conversation with mark chapple of tst today, he was suprised when I said I ran both boxes and both adding timing. He said that he does not know how much timing the smarty is adding, but he thought it with the tst was too much.

It does not seem to make a difference which Smarty program I run, w/wo timing. For whatever reason my truck is not liking it!

Thank You for the reply!

Tst / Smarty

Try this: If you have a TST w/ adj user timing feature then turn it down to 3* and use the SW selection of choice and be sure to USE "TIMING". If you don't have the TST with the timing feature be sure to use the SW selections W/OUT timing. I'd bet your problem goes away. :D

Ok,..try this:

This time pull the SMARTY program back to stock and reload it again. I can't explain it but I had this situation with the BDDL,. . the CLDL,... and the Diablo,. . all at different times it seemed like the ECM just didn't want to accept or should I say FULLY accept the program. Sometimes I'd even make a few runs and they'd be a bit crappy and then all of a sudden something clicked and it was like the ECM liked it all of a sudden. I have NO explaination, but that's the way it worked on occasion. :-laf

I have reloaded it several times, back to stock, #1, #2, etc.

I cross my fingers and hope for the best, truck runs good, add TST 0/1, 1/0, truck stumbles. I go back to stock, TST any setting truck runs great, download a Smarty program and use any setting on the TST, :( stumbles.

call tst and ask danny if can help. tst did all the dyno testing for marco on tst's trucks. they might have had problems when the smarty was being tested.

Robert, Marco and I were at TST products working with Scott and Mark. Danny did not do the testing.

Scanner available??

do you have the 305/555 H. O. motor?

I think you need to have someone ride with you that has a scanner so you can see what's happening to your fuel pressure? Are you a NW Bomber? Geez,... those guys are very knowledgeable and you live in their backyard. I'd think they coulld help you diagnose your problem with hands on. Be sure to let us know what you find.

I know of a 305/555 that is having the popping problem when he runs the tst stacked with smarty.

My truck however stacked with the TST and Smarty on 9 on the dyno did not pop.

I have not ran it that way yet on the road though.

It sounds like you all are running out of rail pressure, do you have a rail pressure gauge to confirm u have pressure?

Diesel Power, I would think with your modded CP3 you would not have this issue, but on my truck if the rail drops below 12K it starts popping and missing like mad with the TST on.

JJ you also witnessed smarty kick *** at the same dyno event. There may be other issues to deal with.

Bob, you are absolutely right about me witnessing Smarty at the Dyno event, and I have never stated that the Smarty was causing the problem or that it was not performing as designed by itself, in fact, I believe I have posted the Smarty was severely powerful all by itself.

I sincerely appreciate you offering me a refund until the additional programming is available. I am not asking for that... I was hoping that You or Marco or someone else may have an answer of why they are not working on My truck.

It is a different sound than the popping I was experiencing when I was running my rail dry. Now it is just a stumble, sort of like my oil burner when it has air entrained in it. Like I have stated in the past, Smarty on #9 by itself, truck runs fine, TST 9/9 by itself is also fine. But the minute I combine the two in any combination, the truck stutters.

My Smarty version is: V 3. 01A D 1. 01A, is this the correct or latest program?

Bob, I will call you later today.
