I just installed the tst elbow and i gained 1 to 2 psi on the turbo. ? i had about 27 before and now have about 29. I tryed to adjust the set screw but it seams to be in all the way allready. ? What else should I try? Help. Thanks

Huh? Mine spikes 40 PSI and then settles down to high thirties!

Dont you get more if you turn up the TST?

I never touched my screw, (boy that sounded bad) did you try turning it out?

Boost elbow bleed hole too big?

You could fill the hole with jb weld and then drill a smaller hole for the air bleed. I guess this would only work if the screw wasn't sealing tight, but maybe worth a shot. Just my . 02. Nick.

I think you actually need the bleed hole to be a little larger. That is what I had done. I had found a article somewhere on TDR that explained the process. If I find it I will post it here. The hole needs to be increased just ever so slight. If you go to large you cannot limit the boost properly.

Here are a few posts that helped me. I used a lettered drill that was just larger than the existing opening. I did it by hand using a tap handle to hold the bit.

Good Luck, Jeff

My truck was the same way only I was only getting about 30 and stock I had been able to hit around 36. There was another thread on this awhile back, and there was someone else on here who explained how to solve the problem. I had tried different hoses and elbows but his idea was the best. If you tighten the screw to limit the boost signal it is still not enough so what you have to do is take a scribe and slightly enlarge the hole on the side of the elbow that releases the boost signal and probably open the screw to let more air in. Don't over enlarge the hole or the wastegate will not open, just guessing but about 1. 5 times larger is what worked on mine then open the screw a little, this is a trial and error thing.

"Could you explain how you enlarged the elbow?"

Take a scribe or some type of tapered objest and, (woller), is that a word, the bleed hole on the side of the elbow out a little to bleed off some of the boost signal, don't get to large or the wastegate will not get enough pressure to open. If you do get a little too big you can open the screw a little to let more air volume pass.

My mistake, I need to wake up before I post. I was thinking totally backwards, not enough boost=not bleeding enough air. I forgot I had to enlarge the hole on elbow for tst, but I got it too big and as a resul ended up filling w/ jb and the redrilling. Its been quite a while ago. At least someone was awake!

Thanks, after I posted i spoke to tst and he thought my boost was too low to start with. and to test it with the waste gate hose off! I did that and I got like 32. ( same test just wot up a steep hill). So I didnt have time to do anything else. Just loaded the trailer and headed out.

Here is the results. Going up the cajon pass ( 15 fwy in so cal) I use to get like 26 boost and then the egt's would go up to 1350 and I would have to let off to keep them down( speed about 40-45 or so) NOW i got 36 boost at wot and max egts at 1250, speed at 55 to 60 (wow). ( this is with the waste gate disconnected!!)

The guy at tst sugested not to operate above 40 ( max ) and better to stay below 35. Now I wonder I should do the mod to the elbow and reinstall or just leave it off?

p. s. I did ask the guy at tst about increasing the size of the bleed hole and he said the same thing, to be careful and not over do it.
