I originally had a similar post which I think I called Turbo Barking. I have since determined this somehow is a resonance.
Maybe some of you out there have noticed something similar. Usually at around 2000-2150 RPM in 5th gear, when I either step on it, or release the go pedal, I hear a noise that isn't coming directly from the turbo in the engine compartment, but rather I hear the sound reflecting of my topper just behind the rear window of the truck. It seems to reflect this noise, which seems distinctively like it is from the exhaust system.
The sound can most accurately be described as the sound when you use a hand circular saw just as you finish a cut and pull the saw away. .
Now keep in mind this happens when I get ON the go pedal or OFF the go pedal.
I had a look at the turbo impeller itself, and all seems to be fine.
So, now I am thinking that there is some sort of resonance built up from the turbo to exhaust... . it can be quite pronounced at times. It's not always present.
I am quite sure it has only recently started making this noise.
Anyone else have similar experience?
Shawn
