Right now I am running a pinned HX- super 40. Is it comparable to a phat shaft 66/14? Which is bigger. Better performance? My problem now is heat

Ben is right, the 40 is about a 60 mm wheel, the 66 is well 66 mm wheel based off of the borg warner s300. The s 300 hybrid will handle 55-60 psi and survive. The hx40 won't last much over 40-45. However the super 40's are a little better, but I don't know how much better.

I am running an Hx40 right now and it will hit about 40psi with egts hitting about 11-1200 at WOT. The 40 is a bit laggy as well. I will be stepping up to the sps66 next.

Here is my HX-40 @ 50PSI

if you think that hx 40 is laggy , that sps66 is double that/ i had one . ps64 might fit you better but not sure what your goals r. If you have the money your better off with the silver bullet it spools much quicker. talk to shane at Industrial injection he could help you to reach your goals. hope it helps

I thought my prostreet 66 spooled sooner than the SB. Once the SB is lit it is scary how fast it goes. I thought the best streetable charger for me was the 66/14 original sled puller.

The Prostreet66 and SPS66 are very similiar turbos..... The SB is in a class by itself. The SPS66 and SB spoolup is almost identical but the SB will produce more topend and better street manners. Both of these turbos are designed as specialty turbos when power is the goal.

HX-40's

HX-40's :-laf :-laf :-laf

My truck has killed two of those turbo's. I can laugh about it now but at the time it sucked. For longevity I wouldn't reccomend one above 450 HP or 40 PSI.

When you guys say you trashed 2 hx40 turbos you mean that the shaft broke because the nut backed off right. I've heard that from others. My first 40 I cracked the exhaust housing when I blew the motor. Antrim had nuts machined and pinned through the shaft and nut to prevent that. Thats the trick they do to all the big rig turbos that are used for pulling and high boost applications.

yes i did snap the shaft on each one

The first one i was racing and shifted from 3-4 and when i let off to go to 4th it snapped

the 2nd was on the dyno

I think the shaft on HX40's are only 7MM shaft

I believe my B1-2 had a 9MM shaft, boy i could make that thing bark :-laf
