Just looking for some info on companies that rebuild and upgrade turbo's. My is a Holset HX35W. shaft play out of limits, blades contacted housing, not excessively damaged though. Just a touch. And while rebuilding would like to upgrade to be more dependable with a touch of performance. I am looking for suggestions and recommendations. For a reputable business. With reasonable prices. Thank you

Thanks for the info. Has anybody sent their turbo in to C-Pop shop? They sound extremely Qualified, prices within reason. Any input would be appreciated.

For about $750.00 I had a stock HX35w made into a 35/40 hybred. They put a modified wheel into a HX40 compressor side and because they use your HX35 turbine side you get a turbo that puts out more air without the dreded turbo lag which most bigger turbos experiance. Brad at Poncie's diesel in Fortuna,CA. did mine. I've got this setup in both my trucks and can support bigger injectors like Bosch RV 275 without alot of smoke with an Edge tuner.

I have a modified HE351 63/65 coming from Austin Tate. He modifies turbos, he could put a larger compressor on your HX35. I think some guys put HE351s on 24 valves as well.

I think an upgraded HE351 is a great way to go for one or two mild fueling mods. It's a better turbo than the HX35 and pretty efficient up to about 32psi. Above 32psi though its performance falls off really fast. The trickiest thing though is installing it since the compressor outlet is 3rd Gen style. I replaced the HY35 on my '01 with an unmodified HE351 and it really made a difference.

Has anyone rebuilt a turbo for a 2006 3500. Where is a good place to get an exploded view drawing of the turbo?

Firstly, be sure that you buy genuine Holset rebuild kits…there are many "Hecho in China" kits available for much less cost, but the quality of the parts are not consistent. Here is a link to a genuine Holset kit for the HE351cw--

ALso, if you pm me with your email, I have collected several pdf files of genuine Holset service manuals for the HE351cw.

Thanks seafish,
I will double check to be sure the kit I bought is a genuine Holset, I bought it from G-Pop Shop. My e-mail address is -- email address removed --
I appreciate your input and support!

So does the PDR 35 bolt right up as same as the OEM; e.g. is a struggle to install due to size changes? I am less than 350 so it looks like a great option.

Tom at Turbo Re-Source does a great job as well.

Do you monitor drive pressure??

I am curious how the upgraded compressor on a HE351 treats drive pressure.

I generally recommend leaving the compressor stock, as it is not the limiting factor of a HE351 in any way, and just upgrading the turbine. This will drop the drive pressure across the board, where I feel a bigger compressor with a bigger turbine keeps the drive pressure stupid high (2:1 is easy on a stock HE351).

But I haven't tested it, so I am trying to find someone who looks at DP.

The 70x60 is the one I have used, looks like you are going with the next size up. Is it a 65mm or 64mm? I know that some places put a 70x64 in the HE351 housing, but that seems pretty big for that housing.

Sent the turbo in to G-Prop shop. Very good turn time, 5 days. very reasonably priced $ 630. included shipping back. They Cleaned, rebuilt, Modified my compressor wheel with a 60 mm. Balanced. And it looked like new. And it goes like a Bat Out Of Hell! My hats off to the guys at G-Prop shop
