Looking for a good/economical turbo upgrade for my brother's truck. It's a '94, stick, 2WD with mild pump mods. The most he tows is around 3,000#. Future plans are some mildly upgraded injectors. Currently running a factory(?) WH1C. He would like to make a little more power and clear up the smoke he's getting.

Thanks in advance for any help.

aurora 3000 or super B. both are 57mm. Super B is 57/65/14, and I believe the aurora is a 57/71/13 or 14. If you pend much less than that you will end up with some non gated standard box unit.

I have a "Dodgezilla" hybrid HX35/40 on my 97. I went with the hybrid so I wouldnt need to change my down pipe, because I already had an exhaust brake that was set up for the smaller stock downpipe. I have been happy with it. It flows quite a bit more air and is more efficient so it isn't pushing hot air at the higher boost PSI's. It is waste gated and I have it set to open at 40 PSI. I believe I paid about 1300.00 for it about five or six years ago. I would recommend the same for anyone looking for a mild upgrade.

It would help if you defined "mild pump mods", "mildly upgraded injectors" and " a little more power". In other words, a ball park HP goal. I was participating in an online discussion not too long ago where one of the posters considered 500-550 HP a mild engine.

My question would be what rpm do you want to pull grades at. Below 300 hp the hx35s are hard to beat for drivability and smoke control.

With my "MILD":-laf, mods the Super B works for me. Does require a 4" downpipe also.
Hey Gary
Mine may be on the market soon, if the 5er sells.

for the mild build your talking most bang for your buck i have found is the PDR modded hx34 i just did one on my 97 and its a huge upgrade fast spooling a lot cooler then the stocker and only about 650bucks out of pocket. pretty solid if your not planning to pull much over 350hp. i had the similar setup on my 95 with 3kgsk and stock turbo and it was a slug compared to how fast this thing lights up. that being said i think twins are in the works
