The case of the disappearing coolant.

High charging voltage

I have an 06 5.9 with 148,000. I don't know how or why, but I blew the turbo on my truck trying to bring my camper home. I was wondering what turbo you guys would recommend for replacing it. I had a friend of mine say the Sinister Diesel was a good turbo.

I eventually want to program my truck, so I don't want to get a turbo that I'd end up needing to replace later down the road. I want to program my truck for towing and mileage on highway driving, so if you guys have a suggestion for that too as well, I'd appreciate it.

For personal assurance, I'd figure out why the turbo went so as not to replicate the same failure on a new one.

I stuck with a slightly stock HE341 replacement blueprinted by Turbo Resource, I got a new stock manifold ceramic coated it along with the hot side of the turbo. But I have power and mileage goals on near stock components with tuning.

Buyer beware, don't put something in you're not set up for.

I heard Borg Warner makes a good unit, but when I asked some techs what I should do with mine when I "thought" my turbo was having issues, they said to stick with the stock unit. (2004 only running a TST R49 and 4" exh for towing and never had any issues on level 4:4 or below)

I have a Turbo Re-source upgraded stock turbo and it works very well (search "Motorhead Mod"). However, if I were in your shoes, i think I would look at the BD VGT Turbo (https://us.bddiesel.com/products/5-...bo-kit-dodge-2003-2007?variant=31051735662661) for sure! :)

I bought a brand new Holset stocker on XDP diesel's site. I have stock fueling and keep my EFI on a 60 hp tune. They had a discount going and it was very reasonable.

I'd talk to BD and see what options they have. When you install a new turbo, with never seez on the threads, also change the oil and filter.
