I have read several post on this and today I pulled the turbo inlet hose off to check the blade as I had read that someones had fail.
In looking at the ring ( maybe I should have remove it and would have seen and not had to post)it reminded me of a wear ring on a impeller I know it's not a wear ring but the thought came to me . Has any one checked the cfm and psi between the output of the turbo and intercooler with the ring in and with the ring out. Wondering if the high pitch that some hear is high pressure air bypassing back to the intake side
I have been told and saw on the post several reason for removal just wondering which is correct
Nathan

If you love the sound of a turbo under boost ( sorta like a big rig ) toss it.

A few folks have contacted Holset, the turbo makers, they say the only propose of the ring is noise reduction at Dodge's request,it will effect nothing else . Take it off if you like high pitched noises,I had mine off for less than a day before it drove me crazy and I replaced it. If you remove yours keep it,chances are you will want to put it back on.

My guess on the matter is that if you are just driving it won't make that much difference but the minute you pull some hills or hook a trailer on it will wistle like a bad stereo whine.

Well, I just got a 2001 white 3/4 ton qc sb slt. Auto with 3. 54 gears. I will use it for Hauling cattle occationally, Flatbed trailer hauling water for spraying and whatever we put on it, pulling 2 1000 gal anhydrous tanks at a time and other chores like hauling the wife and kid to town.
